I have made a startling discovery and I just found this out yesterday. My reviewing blog, As the Pages Turn, received a 5 PR ranking. This is a blog I only started a month ago and I only have maybe ten posts up. This goes against all the SEO I've ever learned. When I look for a blog to host my authors, I insist that the blog is updated, has a good set of archives and is geared toward my authors' books. I've now made a new rule where the blogs have to have a good PR ranking - at least a 4. It takes a while for a new blog to get even a 4, but with constant updating, it can get there in a month (give or take a few days). Mine is a 5 which I discovered yesterday. It goes against everything I thought SEO to be and after doing some analyzing, I thought could it be the memes?

I have found 4 memes which I use - The Sunday Salon, Booking Through Thursday, Teaser Tuesdays and What's on Your Nightstand?. I love them and am having a blast using them when I can find the time, but does anyone know of anymore out there geared toward books? I need a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday, or anything else you can think of.

If memes are the ticket to high PR ranking, then I am so there so if anyone has any suggestions, can you please let me know?

Thank you!

This makes sense, Wayne, and I really appreciate your help. I have other wordpress blogs but neither of them are ranked a 5, most of them are 4s but they've been around awhile. I did read somewhere where PageRank isn't reliable but it still baffles me. And as for wordpress getting more hits than blogger blogs, it doesn't seem to make a difference whether it's on wordpress or blogger, my other blogs get about the same amount of hits unless I do something physically to get people over there. I loved Wordpress for awhile, then discovered I couldn't put up certain widgets so I eased my way back over to blogger and started revamping older blogs I'd had there but were just vegetating. I also like the fact I can change my templates with blogger where I can't with wordpress, or the free version anyway.
I have made the case to some SEOs in the past that PageRank is something that gets all too much attention, in comparison to the very limited value it provides. I say that as someone who, back in 2003-2004 wrote articles about PageRank and building it up. That was then. This is now. In any case, whether you believe in PageRank or not, and I no longer do, it will take care of itself through incoming links to your writing and posting great blog posts.

I recommend what I have always recommended for bloggers. Write great posts filled with interesting and informative content. Use good post titles that combine your important search keywords in the post with a catchy grab 'em title, Link freely to other blogs within your posts to add informational value. Link to other good blogs in your blogroll. Don't worry if people click away on a link, as they will return, if you provide great content. Post frequently at least three times per week.

For the record, I use Blogger for my blog. I also know great blogs that rank at the top of the first page that are published on Blogger, Wordpress, and TypePad. It's not the platform that counts. It's the quality of the posts and links that matter.
You can check out my blog's memes if you want and use any you'd like...but please link back to my blog if you do use some :-)
I created my own memes without anybody else’s ideas, because why shouldn't we? Maybe you want to make up some of your own too…its pretty fun!

I think they change it every so many months. In one year, I went from 0 to 4 to 2. I have no clue what makes PR tick.
