Okay, as of recent I have enjoyed the entire Twilight series, The Host (Stephenie Meyer), Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins), and Tithe (Holly Black). I especially enjoy Stephenie Meyer's books and obviously can't read anymore of what she's written at this time. I really liked The Hunger Games a lot too. Tithe is the latest book I've read and I thought was lacking a bit in character and story development, but at the same time I loved the fantasy world, which is really weird. What I'm hoping for are some book suggestions. I don't like super far out there weird, but I'm really enjoying the Fantasy world (and Hunger Games & The Host are sci-fi). So does anyone have suggestions for me. I'm not overly into Paranormal. I liked the vampires in Twilight and am more inclined to put them into a fantasy category. Anyway, I like a little romance a little action, but nothing way far out there or anything that is going to scare the crap out of me. That being said, do you have any recommendations????

I don't know if anyone has mentioned these. I haven't read all the comments. I really enjoyed The Mortal Instruments Trilogy by Cassandra Clare. They have vampires, werewolves, fairies, wizards etc. They are really good. In order they are City of Bones; City of Ashes; and City of Glass is due to come out this March. The Inheritance Series by Christopher Paolini is also excellent. That series starts with Eragon.
Anita,
I was just wandering around my local Barnes & Noble and came accross a book called "Rowan of the Wood". The two authors, Christine and Ethan Rose, were doing a signing in the store and I had a couple of hours to kill so I started reading it. After the first two chapters, I bought the book and had them sign it for me! The book is a fantasy book full of adventure and even has a bit of romance. I am not one to read at book stores but was very impressed with this new book and could not put it down. I found their website and am now following their blog as they tour the nation! (http://www.christineandethanrose.com/?page_id=54) Check it out! You won't be disappointed! It's the first in a series!
I just read an arc of new series by Rachel Caine. I liked her writing and plan on reading more of her. Check out her website RachelCaine.com
You might enjoy Time Masters Book One: The Call by Geralyn Beauchamp. It involves time travel, an alien race and a futuristic world. It also has action, romance, adventure and a little of nearly everything else. Definitely not scary - I'm not much for reading thrillers as my imagination tends to run off with ideas or scenes from what I read in my dreams. Anyway I loved it and based on your caveats I think it might be right up your alley. There are some reviews on Amazon and Barnes and Noble for it. You can also read about the author and the book at my blog http://bibliophilesretreat.com just search her name. Oh and her blog has some excerpts both of that book and book 2 which is currently in progress. You can find her blog at http://authorgeralynbeauchamp.blogspot.com
Well I just wanted to let you know I joined this blog site just to tell you about one of the best books I've ever read, and easily my favorite. I was surprised nobody else mentioned it, or maybe they thought you'd already read it. Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. Fell in love with this book. Ive read it so many times Ive lost track. I'm not sure if you still check this blog, but seriously if you manage to get a glance at this post this book is a masterpiece.
I would like to throw in another wonderful book to the pot that I thought you and a lot of other posters might like. There was a bit of discussion about vampire books, and Ive read a series that doesn't have vampires, but your probably gonna love the similarities. I cant remember the author, but the name of the book is Lord of Snow and Shadow. Very good and its the beginning of a series.
Thanks again everyone...I'm always adding books to my "to be read" pile...it's awesome!

Got a lot of them!

House of Night Series by PC and Kristin cast

Blood Warrior by H. D. Gordon- this one was only .$99 at amazon.com

Otherworld Series by Kelley Armstrong...first book is Bitten---warning, you will be obsessed!

If no one else has recommended Stacia Kane's Downside series, I'll put in a plug for them. Fair warning, though: the main character in Unholy Ghosts is a drug-addicted witch who exorcises ghosts in a dystopian future. Very edgy.
