Does anyone have any information on reviewing books? Where to find out about it, how does it work, etc.?
I found a link to http://onlinepublicist.net on Dewey's blog. I also saw Rashmi made reference to Penguin India - does Penguin USA do the same thing?
Thanks,
Trixie
You might want to check out my post on how I got started. While the first half is personal, the second half is more general and should give you some helpful tips. :)
Thanks J Kaye. And since I started that discussion, just a few days ago I started getting daily emails from Bostick communications regarding review copies. Has anyone heard of them? We'll see what happens when I actually get around to posting a review or 2!
I dont know what Penguin India does, but in the USA Penguin doesn't send ARCs to individuals. All requests have to be made on letterhead.
I personally have emailed the author and asked for Arcs. Theyve been happy to provide them. Certain publishers like Bantam give division emails to the imprint if the book you want. Then some times they find you!
Has anyone ever received anything from Bostick? I requested one from the almost daily emails they send me, but never got anything or heard back from them.
Today I received a copy of Hidden Truths by Brenda Youngerman from Bostick.
It is in my TBR & reviewed pile, under the books I just received from Miriam.
Oh, and I referred Penguin India as Gauthami had mentioned she's in India and I know that not many US publishers are willing to send books overseas to reviewers.
I did receive 2 books from Bostick, but I've also replied to a few others and have heard nothing more back.
It seems like what happens is that Bostick gets your response and passes it on to the author who is then responsible for sending you the ARC. There was one book I was particularly interested in, so I emailed again and got a prompt reply that the book was just returning from the publisher and would arrive shortly which it did.
