So, I'm curious. How many of us are in a book club? Is it online or in "real life?"

I do book clubs with my students. Right now I am doing several Andrew Clements books and several different Bill Wallace books with small groups of 3rd grade students.

I am doing an online book club with a group of friends I am in a Yahoo group....we are doing The Memory Keeper's Daughter. We are at the point where we are starting to think about what book we are going to do next.

I am doing the same book as above with a group of faculty and staff at my school. We all have such different schedules that we are doing our discussions on a wiki I created for them to use. There is some book talk in the halls or the lounge on occasion...but mostly in the wiki.

Goiod question Corinne!

Book clubs are fairly new to me...and was a little scary for me to jump into....but have now jumped in with both feet LOL! Think I'll be involved with some kind of book club from now on.

I have my own "online" reading book club. It's not that successful--at least not yet--but I'm hoping that more and more people will come and join me. May's book is Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. June's book is as of yet undecided.

I'm in a boatload of online book clubs, mostly through Yahoo! Groups. I also belong to a face-to-face group that meets roughly every six weeks.

I'm in two... one in person with a group of women at church, and one online through The Sequestered Nook, which Corrinne started. I would do more, but I kind of like having freedom to read what I want to read when the whims strike, and not having to "have" to read certain books every month. (That said, I always work better with a deadline, which is why I love the library books...) Anyway. That's why I try to limit the challenges I join, too...

(Becky... I'd do your book group, but I can't keep up with the pace of reading. I keep trying, and I just can't do it. You read too fast!!)

Like Melissa, I'm in two book groups, for the same reasons. I love my in person group because of the ladies I get to hang out with - the discussion can be awesome or non-existent. Sorta depends on the mood everyone is in. I love the nook because we really do discuss the books we choose, so it makes me think a bit more and I like that I can pipe in whenever I have time. I like having spare time to do challenge books and satiate my ya fix :)

I am not in any book clubs at the moment I tend to like to read what ever strikes my interest.

I've got one at work, but so far I haven't read any books for it yet. So far I've been to one meeting, and that was for the food. And socializing.

I think that any more challenges or book clubs right now would just stress me out instead of entertain me, but every time I think that, I end up joining some new challenge.

I'm joining Slaves of Golconda and they are starting a new book soon. We are in the process of choosing one now. This will be my first one and I'm looking forward to it.

Are you thinking of starting one here?

I am in a couple book clubs - both IRL, so I'm learning more about the online format. One is a wide range of ladies, it started at a church and has grown to include lots of ladies from the area. The book is chosen 8 weeks before meeting, but we meet monthly with 2 active books out there. I love it because the group pushes me to read titles I might not choose myself.
The other group is a creativity book group -- we've been reading The Artist's Way, a chapter a week, each of us in the group lead activities and discussion. Right now we're done w/that book and taking a book break but still meeting as a group to visit and say hello.
If there is a book at my local library they are dicussing that I've heard of, I'll try that too. I think we'll be moving, so online has some appeal these day so I can keep my book friends even if we move. :)

I host a book club online. It can be found on facebook and it's called Bookin' Around or you can find it on my blog.

I have belonged to a (real-life) book club for about 8 years. The group has changed and splintered (I was with the splinter group), however sometimes I do both depending on the books. We are not all readers and some of us are "serious" readers, so we try to pick books that are a reasonable length for the ones who only read a book a month and us that want to read more.

I may check out some of the online ones. I just started my first challenge, so that feels a little "club-ish" to me!
