I have a few. One is One Thousand Splendid Suns, Peony in Love, and Book Thief.
This one is published in the United States as YA but in Australia it is adult. One of my favorites is Thirteenth Tale... I just loved it. Gothic, suspense and plenty of twists. This is to name three.
I have another, I knew there was I forgot. Loving Frank was slow to get going but at the end I loved it. Had women issues, and women's rights. This is a great book discussion. I would love to discuss this some time for a online book club if we ever have any. Nancy Horan is the author. Maybe we can ask her to join our blog. Or come for a visit.
I have had a lot of good luck with books recently but if I had to choose I would say Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver or Dracula by Bram Stoker.
My #1 this year is Divisadero by Michael Ondaatje. Close second and third are An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination by Elizabeth McCracken and The Magician's Book by Laura Miller (out in December).
Book I'm most excited about: American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. In fact, I should pre-order.
I'm reading The Wife by Meg Wolitzer and I am really enjoying it. Just 50 more pages to go! Depending on how it ends, it's a strong contender for a favorite.
