Adult Content Warning~ Question

I mainly review mainstream and I sometimes review  adult contact thing like erotica, menage on my blog.

Do I need to have the adult warning? 

Can someone explain this more to me?

Yes you do. I know that with Blogger they have a setting where you can let people know as soon as they get on your blog that there is explicit content and they can choose to proceed from there. While I choose not to review erotica, if any of the books I read include strong language or sex at all, I make a note so the readers know it is in the book. That way too if it's a parent resding, then can decide if they are comfortable with their kid reading it from there. I mean it is obviously going to differ for each type of blog,but a warning is nice in any situation.

I would definitely use the adult content.  Then it's up to the reader.  Some readers become insulted by certain subjects.  If you have the adult content up, they will be prepared and not be angry at you for not telling them ahead.

I don't use "adult" warnings per se, because most of the books that I review are not written for children, and so it's primarily an adult audience that reads my blog (which mostly reviews sci-fi and fantasy).  Periodically I'll review a book that does contain adult content beyond vanilla sex (ie. BDSM or GLBT themes).  I tend to mention it, because some people would be offended by it and others might be specifically looking for it.  I'm of the opinion that we as a society have our priorities wrong because sex is considered taboo but violence is generally considered to be acceptable, and so don't think that adult content is a big deal, but part of writing a good review is letting your readers know facts that might be relevant toward whether or not they'll enjoy a book.

I see you're on blogger/blogspot. Whether or not you "need" an adult content warning for the blog itself probably depends on whether blogger says you need one. If it were me, I probably wouldn't put an adult content warning on a book blog that occasionally reviews erotica. Unless your blog contains images of naked people and/or descriptions of sex acts, I don't see why it would be necessary. I would, however, mention in your erotica reviews that the book in question contents explicit sex/whatever else it includes.

Hi - the warning is, as I understand it, if you have actual adult content on your blog.  If, in your reviews, you don't get too graphic in relating what's actually in the story then I'd think you'd be alright.  People who see adult content may think it's a site with a lot of pornographic information and may not bother to continue to check it out - (adding the adult content means that when someone clicks on your page, they;ll be given a warning about the adult content and asked if they want to continue).  They way I see it - it's a barrier between you and your readers so, unless, you're going to have a lot of adult content on and be very graphic about it I wouldn't bother..

It depends. If there are suggestive images and language then yes. If you do a clean review of a dirty book and there isn't explicit material then no.

I don't think you would need to check the adult content on blogger so long as you don't have pictures of covers with nude people, or include excerpts, etc. 

As someone who doesn't like to read erotica, and such, I would say as a blog reader I would appreciate some kind of statement in the review that says the book has adult content, etc.  It doesn't have to be big and scary - but notice would be appreciated.
