I'm not a big horror fan. I'm watching everyone post about their scary/creepy/terrifying/chilling/etc. reads and feeling a little left out. Is there anyone else out there who just doesn't get into the whole scary book thing? What are your favorite alternative Halloween books?

It probably isn't the best choice before bed, but I don't scare as easily from books. Scary movies and TV shows scare me a lot more.

When I do watch the film version of Let the Right One In, you can be absolutely sure it'll be during the bright and sunny part of the day.
There's an author named Dorothy Bodoin who writes a lot of mysteries involving holidays, including a few about Halloween. However, her books aren't horrifying. They're kind of like a modern gothic, and I really enjoy her mysteries.
I've not heard of Dorothy Bodoin. I'll have to look into her books. Not horrifying is good!
I don't like scary either. But if you like funny, Regency and ebooks, you can try my PUMPKINNAPPER.
Hmm, I like the title!
If you are looking for an alternative to a Halloween book. I would suggest Damaged by Alex Kava it's a psychological
thriller . It will definitely have you on edge.(Well it had me on edge a little.)
Psychological thrillers definitely tend to put me on edge! Sometimes I think they can be scarier than books that set out to be scary.
I could not find any I felt like reading so I decided to start reading all the Christmas books I want to read this season instead.
Great idea! I much prefer the winter holidays to Halloween. Much less scary!
If you like spooky fun, my YA paranormal series October Girls features romance, magic, and ghosts. All proceeds from Oct 25-31 benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. http://www.hauntedcomputer.com/OctoberGirls1.htm

A lot of YA books explore the paranormal without being "horror." Hope you enjoy your Halloween!

Paranormal is ok! It's the creepy murder/stalking/kidnapping/things jumping out of closets/etc that I don't like. I'll take a look at your site. Thanks! Happy Halloween!
Here are a whole bunch of historical fiction books on Jack the Ripper

I haven't read this books so I don't know if they're historical fiction of fictional stories which take place in the past.
