I am signed up as an Amazon Associate Member, I've got the links to my aStore and the books I reviewed up on the blog...
People click on the links, but only 3 people have purchased books... Does that mean:
A. My link only works for the specific type of copy it links to (kindle, paperback, hard cover..)
and people are buying a different version
B. Viewers really are just clicking the link to get more info on the book
C. My link only works 7% of the time
D. All of the Above
Any info you have on how this all REALLY works would be greatly appreciated! I'd hate to be losing referral fees just because I'm doing it wrong!
Thanks!

In my experience, 5-7% of clicks resulting in purchases sounds about right. If the clicker buys anything through Amazon as a result of getting there through your click, you get a % of that purchases. I've had people click through a book link on my site and end up buying dog food, sawhorses, tea kettles, etc.
I don't know if there are ways to increase that %, but probably working on getting more traffic/total clicks will be better than fiddling with the links themselves.
Good luck,
Skip
Oh good! Then I wont worry about putting multiple formats on the blog! Thank you for clarifying!

However you won't see a payout for it until it SHIPS (I've had people pre-order books months ahead of time through my referral link so even though I get the click through credit, I don't get the pay out until the book ships)
I don't know how to increase the payout rate, I'm at 7% myself, but I suspect if you drive enough business towards them it increases exponentially and hits a ceiling at some point.
The rate goes up with the amount of sales you do. I think it tops at 15%
Maybe I have some preorder?!!? lol!
Thanks!
