Any Advice why a book would sell over 15 in July and only 1 copy in August? Help!

I was looking for any advice from authors why a book would be selling well and then drop off so dramatically?  Is there a better way to promote my books?  I did have my book for free in July for a bit (that doesn't count as the 15) so I wonder if it boosted the actual sales after I stopped my free promotion.  Any advice?

I had the same happen to me, but the only people that bought mine were family and friends. I hadn't yet started promoting wide. You didn't mention where you promoted your book. Facebook, this site, etc?

I did a free promotion through KDP publishing through amazon.  I had some family and friends buy it, but then it was just selling to other people.

I did the same. I also tried Goodreads. I bought an ad for $30 and had 10 people add it to their to-read list, but no one bought it. That's why I'm here. Pretty much the only people who'll know are friends and family unless you advertise aggressively.

If you don't have one already, you should get a website.  Social media outreach is also very important for indie authors, and not just promotion, but interaction.
