Greetings Fellow scribes:
Book Trailers! Do they work as a reputable marketing tool? What does it cost?
imovie.....moviemaker......corel video & movie are somesoftware companies to use.
Proponents of book trailers tell me that they are taking the place of Synopsis, Book Reviews and
Excerpts, as a means for displaying and marketing a new book. Getting the word out about new books
is hard enough with traditional methods, but now the ambitious innovative new authors are promoting
their books like movies - in the form of a video. Good idea or bad?
What do U think. Pro or Con?

They did a great job. It was put together very well.
How are your book sales, if U don't mind my asking - that being the purpose of putting it together.
What are your children professionals of, graphic design... animation? Will U put out an ebook? Are U considering
selling it as a DVD with that kind of talent in your immediate family?
thanks for the show and tell.

Permalink Reply by Jordan T. Maxwell on May 9, 2011 at 9:25pm I don't know if a trailer is helpful or not. Based on my sales post-trailer I'd say "not". However, I did have a wonderful time putting the whole thing together and it inspired my middle school aged daughter to make one as a school project.
I have posted it below.

I think the nicest part about the book trailer is the show. The words aren't needed in the form of a synopsis or an excerpt. It's done.
I 'm sold...everyone I've seen so far is an excellent example.
Hey Shawn, with that kind of talent in your immediate family, you have your own production company.
Thanks,
Max

Permalink Reply by Autumn Dickinson on May 12, 2011 at 9:09pm I can't say that My Book Trailer has contributed to my sales, but it was fun to do. It is there in the event that someone comes across it, and I have it available on here, wattpad, and smashwords. I didn't get to be as creative as I would have liked with this one, but hoping my next will be better. I think that just like a movie, people like to see a visual of what the book might be about, versus just a blurb.

Hi and thanks Autumn
U know it is also probably one of the best copyrights U can have and it's posted/published.
I write about legal issues for writers along with my Reviews on my blog, www.writestuff-writenow.blogspot.com/, and a light bulb went off when u said ..."it's there in the event." That's an excellent pro reason to make a trailer.
thanks a lot,
Max
