Are you a penny pincher when it comes to buying books? Do you buy new or used? If you buy used books, do you go to used book stores or buy used books online? Do you buy at yard sales?
If you are looking for cheap used books, check out your local libraries. Many sell their ex library books and donations they cannot use for on average 25 cents to $3.
If you need help locating some, you can check out our site. It is an online directory of library and other used book sales across the US.
Great plug for our local libraries! I volunteer at my local library as a Friend of the Library. I often spend my Saturday afternoon working in the small book store. All the money goes to the funding for a much needed new library. I wish more people would get their books from library book stores.
Lately, I'm definitely a penny pincher. I always try to buy books at used book stores and I've recently started using paperbackswap.com. My only problem with going to libraries versus buying the book is that if I love it, I want to own a copy!
I buy new books or books that I really want from the bookstore, but that's only because I have tons of gift cards, and I used them. I also have gift cards for the local used bookstore, and I try to buy from the clearance section there. Also, when I go to thrift stores I look through the books there. Just recently I've started going to the library, though... once I discovered I could hold books online.
I used to buy most of my books from Borders or Barns and Noble. Now I try to pinch pennies (I really need to learn how). I get my books from the library or Paperback Swap. There is a new used book store in town that takes trade ins, but unless I have credit on my account I stay away.
Yep, definitely. I mostly buy from used bookstores, which is why most of my books are old. We don't have a public library where I live, and since I'm still in school, I'm budgeting my money a lot.
Check out http://www.MailMeBooks.com. We have new and used books at great prices. Mail Me Books is a family owned and run online bookstore. We are a book-crazy family and want everyone to be able to afford the books we offer at MMB.
Totally! I buy mine at thrift stores, yard sales, library sales, used book stores and get a ton through publishers and authors. I only buy ones I just have to have! I am a student, a single mom and don't have a lot of extra spending cash! I don't check out library books because I am AWFUL at returning them!
