Hi guys..

Could anyone advice me as to the most novice-friendly way to back up my blog?  After the palaver with blogspot the other day I have suddenly woken up to the fact that my beloved site may not be as safe from harm as I first thought!!

Any advice would be much appreciated :-)

Cheerio!

I've got my blogs set to send me an email copy of every single post I've ever done.  So when I post, I get an email copy.

Other then that, I've been wondering myself if I should start a second one on WordPress/LiveJournal incase this happens again.

I write all of my posts using Microsoft Word 2007 and, then, cut and paste the document onto my blog.  It has always worked very well.  Doing it this way, I have an automatic backup for my posts.

Kathy Maxwell stated she writes all her posts in Word so she has a copy.

That is pretty much what I do, too. That way I can do all the editing, etc., 'before' I post them.  I also email myself like Kimberly Hulst said.

Now what I am referring to are "Book Reveiws".  I am starting with Author Interviews as well, so those will be in Word, too.

There is a site online that you pay for that copies everything 'in your' computer, so I wonder if they would have advertisements for copying webpages? Bogs?  I'm curious, too.  We'll have to get more members to write with ideas!

At least Blogger DID recover our stuff!!  I don't see how they would 'not' be able to???  You know, if it happened in the future.  I am sure the techs there, the HIGHLY PAID ones, were the ones who 'Saved the Day'!!! LOL!  Thank Gosh!  Can you imagine the other Blog Site would be OVER-LOADED if Blogger didn't 'Save the Day'!!!!  OH MY!!! Blogger would be out of business!

I'm so pathetic, I just ask my mom to do it. She hosts my blog, so whenever I need anything technical done, I just ask her. I really need to learn how to do these things on my own. There is little worse than a 35 year old woman screaming "Mommy! I broke my blog, can you please fix it!?!"

Back up your BLOGSPOT blogger account:

Sign in to your DASHBOARD

Notice the TOOLS at the very top, you want to EXPORT YOUR BLOG.

Just follow the instructions and this will save all of your posts and comments so if you want to start a whole new blog you can then just IMPORT YOUR BLOG.  Pretty much the same instructions and if I can do it, anyone can. I periodically do this in case my blog is ever hacked so I don't lose anything.

You also want to back up your TEMPLATE as well.

Go to your DASHBOARD and click on the DESIGN tab.  Go to EDIT HTML and DOWNLOAD FULL TEMPLATE and follow the online instructions.

I usually save it to my desktop and then move it to a folder where I can find it.

hi Mary! this is what i do as well. i go to my DASHBOARD, click the SETTINGS tab then click EXPORT BLOG and save it.

i do the same with my TEMPLATE. again, DASHBOARD - DESIGN - Edit HTML and DOWNLOAD FULL TEMPLATE.

after last Friday the 13th's fiasco, i decided to open a Wordpress Account as well. i haven't imported my blog yet though.

Thank You! Your directions were perfect. :)
Fabulous!  Thanks!!!

You'r all marvellous thanks so much!  I can figure these things out eventually but ...like you Nicole, I am so pathetic and utterly lazy and can't bring myself to click around and figure it out!

Mary and co...it's so simple!  Thanks! Brilliant..now with saving it properly and emailing myself I shouldn't need to worry.
