Hey

Im new to the community of book blogging. For several months I enjoyed rummaging online having a look at peoples blogs. Since I have published my first blog and feeling more involved in the community, I cant help thinking that I should have taken more notice to who I was hosting my blog with. Currently it is with WordPress but I have noticed they don't have a followers widget.

Do you think I should move my Blog over to Blogger, as this seems the most popular. I'm thinking that since I am new and have only recently published my very first post that it would be the best time now or should I just hold fire. I like the idea of seeing who is following me and being able to find out about them and follow their blogs back in return.

All advice from seasoned professionals or amateurs, like myself very welcome!

Thanks

Heather

I recently started my book blog and I've been pleased with Blogger. The one thing I don't like is you can't reply directly to a commenter unless you add a widget (which isn't hard to do, just annoying).

There's a widget that lets you do that?! Could you point me in the right direction to find that, please?

Thanks in advance!

You can try installing Instense Debate (www.intensedebate.com) which will allow you to reply directly to comments.

I have a wordpress.com blog but it is more limited than blogger. One main thing is that wordpress.com doesn't allow JavaScript and you have less control over the look of your blog and you have far fewer widgits.

On the other hand, if you have your own host and install wordpress, than you have more flexsblity than blogger offers.

Have to admit I have only used Blogger and I do like it.

I wish it did have a better comment system though as Meg said.

Even the one you can add in by widget editing isn't as good

Yeah, I wonder why they haven't come up with an easier way to reply to commenters?
I like blogger more. They seem to get more readers to come and look at what your writing. You can also get picked up by google search more. I think that there are more things there to offer, at least for me.

Thanks for the replies everyone :) I definitely think its something I need to have a wee think about. Appreciate you all taking the time, helping a newbie out

If you are using Wordpress, use Wordpress.org... which means you have to download it. Wordpress.com is limited but the customization features in Wordpress.org is much wider than Wordpress.com because of the plugins.

I feel WordPress is vastly superior as far as usability to Blogger.

You can easily add a followers widget to WordPress!  My site (BriMeetsBooks.com) runs on a self-hosted Wordpress.  I have a wordpress.com account too with briwrotethis.wordpress.com and you can add a Google connect widget in the widget box.

I have blogger and I like it. here is my link to my blog http://wwwjustagirlkindleing.blogspot.com/

Hope you enjoy. The only think I am having a problem with blogger is my google friend connect followers are not showing up I think it is bloggers fault.
