Hi
I'm a book blogger and I am also a book blog reader -- always happy to discover new book blogs and point of view.

These days I've been thinking about creating a book blog directory (a list containing only book blogs), so that a) both I and other interested people could find many book blogs in one place b) if the directory will get linked enough and will get a (semi)high page rank everyone listed on it will benefit (by appearing higher on Google searches)

I haven't nailed all the details yet but I'm thinking to host it on a subdomain of my site (something like http://directory.kaysbookshelf.com), and for each blog there'll be listed it's address, a screen capture, a short description and perhaps it's author's email (should one wish to add it).

I'm thinking that the best thing would be if everyone in the directory would add a link to it on their homepage (so as the page rank will increase, plus it will make it easier to be discovered by other book bloggers), perhaps with a badge like the attached one or feel free to make your own.

So, what do you think? Would you want to be added on a such list (and link to it from your homepage)?

LATER UPDATE:
I have put up a simple site created with Google sites, you can see it at http://directory.kaysbookshelf.com. Write me an email at kay [at] kaysbookshelf dot com if you would like to be a part of it (so far it only has one entry: my own blog, as I wouldn't want to add there people without their consent).
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts & opinions on it!

Sure I would give my blog URL to be added to this.

Yay!
I'm now waiting for a few more opinions in order to see how the opinions balance (how many think it a good idea, how many think it bad). If all goes well I'll start a new thread with all the actual details.

Sounds interesting! Might want to try to coordinate with My Friend Amy's Blogger Appreciation Week - Amy created a great book blogger list for that!

Sure, the more the merrier. :)
If I do decide on starting up on this I'll surely write her and ask about that. Thank you for the suggestion!

We actually have a BBAW directory set up.... you can see it here: http://greencritter.com/bbaw/
We still accept new blogs to be added all the time.

I haven't seen that list before Amy, awesome job. I know you guys were talking about it after BBAW, but I hadn't heard anything else about it.

Can I ask a quick question though? What tags do you have for Literary Escapism? When I ran a search for Fantasy, I couldn't find it, but when I searched for the name, it came up as paranormal fiction. Could I be added to the Science Fiction/Fantasy category as well as the paranormal fiction? What section do you have the paranormal fiction under? It should be classified along with Science Fiction & Fantasy.

Hi Jackie!

You can log in and edit your own blog using your email address for both username and password. Once you've done that, if it still doesn't come up correctly let me know and I'll ask Lys.

I sent an email out about the directory, but I know that sometimes those emails don't make it to everyone. :) Hopefully for next year's BBAW we'll have a separate site...going to start working on it soon.

Wow. I did not know about it. It made me kinda reconsider my idea because it turned out to be not so novel (and as such necessary) after all.

Then again I figured that it cannot hurt, more links = higher pagerank for all of us, so I did put something up (although it doesn't look as cool as yours as Google sites aren't very customizable). I consider it to be a very early beta anyway.

If you think it's an interesting or promising idea (or at least worth talking about) I think it would be great if you posted about it on your blog, to increase awareness. Only if you want to, of course, I am not searching to force myself or my newborn directory upon anyone in any way :)

This sounds like a good idea! I'm always finding it fun to browse through book blogs. I usually just click from link to link on people's pages but it would be great to all be in one place. Let me know what is decided. I'd be glad to add my blog as well as have a badge.

Oh, I'm in. I'm always looking for more blogs to add to my blogroll!

I'm all for it.

We should also consider a way to attract non-book blogger readers. Not as links, for the directory, but as a way to increase our influence in general. That way we can preach to others than us in the choir so to speak.
