I know this is a little early (Book Expo isn't until early JuneMay 29th to the 31st thank you Book Calendar!), but is anyone planning on going?

Its being held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. I went in 2007, when it was at Jacob Javits before, and had a blast. I went as an educator then however and since have left that job (to pursue my career). I'm hopefully attending this year as a Friend of my local Library, I'm not sure what I will do if that doesn't pan out...

Book Expo America that's the website with information from the past expos and such.

When I went in 2007 it was a wonderful experience. Not just meeting some of my favorite authors (and finding new ones) and getting free books and swag, but I was able to connect with members of the publishing world I wouldn't ordinarily come across. I met quite a few editors and marketing assistants plus was able to talk with industry professionals at the many many boothes. I didn't get a chance to happen down the Independents' lane as much unfortunately; by the time I was done meeting with everyone I was scheduled to meet with and my long friendly chat with one editor I only had a little while before I had to take a train back home.

Anyone else been to a Book Expo?

I will be attending! For all of those attending, please stop by the Hachette Group Booth and say hi. Kelly, Miriam and I will be there and Anna will be passing through.

Also did you sign up for the http://www.meetup.com/BEAtweetup-2009?
Now I wish I could go just to thank Miriam in person for all the help she's offered lining up authors for my blog's Book Notes series... Unfortunately my wife has a break from grad school until July, and I promised no trips during the break.
>-< I'm gonna spend that weekend so sad and bereft. I can't make it anymore due to financial difficulties...
This will be my first year going and I can't wait! I heard that they give away books like crazy. Bringing a big bag with me.
I have a one day ticket now on May 29, which my work is paying for on Friday. I have not decided about other days. So I'll definitely be going on Friday.
I wish I could but I have neither the time nor the money right now. :(
Can someone who is going on saturday do me the huge favor of stopping by Brandon Sanderson's autograph signing in the afternoon? He (and his new book, Warbreaker) were one of the primary reasons I wanted to attend. I love his Mistborn books and Elantris and was hoping to have a chance to fangirl all over him meet him.

If I did my calculations right I can only afford Friday--and that's only because my boyfriend's sister is driving me in and driving me home that evening so I don't have to pay for the train--so I won't get to meet him at all ;-;
