Books that changed your mind about themes

We have themes we love and themes we hate but has a book ever made you change your mind about those passionately held likes and dislikes?

Give an example. What book changed your view on something?

If by theme you mean a genre then I have to say Sci Fi, I never did really like this genre until I read Authur C Clark's Hammer of God. I read some short stories by Clark after reading this book. Now I like a good sci fi once in awhile.
