Can Book Blogs Sell Books? An Experiment

Hi everyone,

I'm currently running a book (sales) drive for Beth Kephart's newest book, Nothing But Ghosts. The first and foremost reason for this is to bring attention to an exceptional author's wonderful new book that hasn't received a lot of attention or support from the traditional sources. I'm hosting a book party for her next Tuesday which will include a vlog of her reading from the book and a chat live on my blog. As I was brainstorming how to make this stand out from what might be perceived as 24/7 promotion for books on my blog :), I got the idea to try a book drive. A typical book launch party would include book sales and I wanted our blogs...this thing we do, to have some kind of impact.

I set the goal at 200 books sold (extremely ambitious) and I'm tracking sales through my amazon link or emailed receipts. I would really appreciate your support through spreading the word or buying the book. Why this book? There are a number of reasons....what I mentioned above...it hasn't received a lot of coverage or support from the publisher, the author, Beth, is both incredibly gifted and a wonderful person and well, why not this book? This is the book I had the idea for.

Lenore is sponsoring this with me and we've set prizes for each milestone reached. So hopefully that adds to the fun and excitement.

You can read about it at my blog. I hope you come by!

Every month, we get together to come up with a top-ten list of the UK titles we’re most looking forward to – and this month we’re focusing on books published in April 2015. It’s an eclectic mix this month, with two SF titles – Poseidon’s Wake and The Rebirths of Tao – which I would highly […]
