Simple discussion, really. After reading many a book a wishing I'd not bothered, I wondered how many of us will keep going with a book they feel or know will be rubbish or will you give up the moment the penny drops?
If you review books, do you feel it only fair to give an author a fair go or if it's an author you've hated for previous books do you skim read it and get through it a quick as you can?
And finally, which is the one author that continues to amze with thier consistant out pouring of rubbish? And which author just doesn't get the credit they deserve?

I review books and if I do not like the author's previous books I do not read/buy/borrow any of their new ones. I am just not interested. Now when I start a book I do not like I continue to read it. Then I tell my readers what I thought and they can make their own decision from there.
It takes a lot to put me off a book. I usually finish regardless (because I'm stubborn). When I do hate a book it will take seeing a lot of good reviews to put me back onto an author or series.

I think the Lovely Bones is rubbish. I hated it. Also for more credit I would go with Diane Duane. If people have read her stuff they generally choose her wizards over HP. She never seams to get much attention though ^_^
This depends for me. If I pick up the book for enjoyment and don't like it, I won't finish it. There's just so many other good books out there that I want to read so I don't bother wasting time on reading ones that I don't like anymore like I used to. But, I also have a blog where I talk about what I've read. Sometimes I get mad enough at a book that I want to really give it my all! In that case, I'll read the whole book for more material! LOL

I also review books, and if I've committed to this then I'll read the while book to give the author my true opinion and to be fair to them.
Usually I will finish a book once I've picked it up. Sometimes it is hard for me to finish if I'm just not that into it, but it will just take me a long time. This isn't any reflection on the book, but I've tried reading Poisonwood Bible a couple of times, and I just couldn't get into it. I didn't get very far, and I keep saying I'm going to give it another try. However, I also keep going back to the library for more books, and the books I own get shoved aside.

If I read a book that I objected to for some reason or another, I will usually try to stay clear of that author, or I'll give the author another chance to change my mind. If not, that's o.k. Not every book is for everyone. I'll just find something else I enjoy.
