Since this is a community on blogging about books I was wondering what everyone is currently reading and blogging about. I love to find new authors and books that others are reading and loving, so I'll start with what I'm currently reading.
I'm currently reading Promise of the Rose by Brenda Joyce.
I'm in the very beginning of The Lady Elizabeth, which is going a bit slow..if it doesn't pick up soon I'll be abandoning it for Music & Silence, which I saw reviewed on another blog and decided to give a try.
I have a whole pile of tbr books on my desk right in front of me, ranging from David Lodge's The Practice of Writing (well, I've read most of that) to Victor Pelevin 'The Helmet of Horror' and Rose Tremain 'The Colour' and all kinds of other books in between (novels and essays). Currently I'm reading Barak Obama's the Audacity of Hope. The last novel I finished is Steff Penney's The Tenderness of Wolves, which I reviewed on my blog.
I also read Tenderness of Wolves a few months back. I couldn't put it down at times but also at times felt a bit overwhelmed with all that was going on. Still, I would recommend it, very good.
Dale Brown's Act of War, entertaining but a bit unbelievable.
Ariel's Journey by Dough Kand & Christy Wood for review, a teenage book that should be hugely appealing to horse folk.
Deathstalker Rebellion by Simon R. Green which has a plethora of confusing characters and is far out even for my eclectic tastes
and Into the Darkness by Harry Turtledove which is starting slow. Too many characters are being introduced too quickly with out enough background to make them memorable before the next character is introduced. I hope it gets better, I laboriously tracked down the whole six book series before I started reading it.
I'm in the middle of Company of Liars and enjoying it very much. It's a medieval historical mystery, reminiscent of Canterbury Tales and The Decameron, with touches of magic and the macabre.
I've read the first three of her Sookie Stackhouse books (Dead Until Dark, Living Dead in Dallas, and Club Dead). I really love them. Fast, east, fun reads. How are the "Grave" books?
