Read Grandville A Detective Inspector Lebrock of Scotloand Yard Scientific Romance Thriller by Bryan Talbot. This is possibly one of the best graphic novels I have ever read. It is an alternative history steampunk setting (Napoleon succeeded in conquering Europe) with art deco flourishes set in Paris. The characters are animals, but not in the style of most modern furries, more like an action packed version of the wind in the willows. It draws from early penny dreadfuls, the influence of Arthur Conan Doyle can be seen in it as well. It is very interesting to look at. I've looked through it three times already.
