Since this is a community on blogging about books I was wondering what everyone is currently reading and blogging about. I love to find new authors and books that others are reading and loving, so I'll start with what I'm currently reading.
I'm currently reading Promise of the Rose by Brenda Joyce.
I am currently reading Skin Hunger by Kathleen Duey. It is kind of like reading the book Flipped where one chapter is told by one person and the next chapter is told by the second character. In this book one chapter is about Sadima and the next chapter is about a boy named Hapt. Sadima lives in a world where magic is no longer allowed and therefore fakes have arisen. She herself has some mystical powers that are recognized by a visitor one day. When her father dies and her brother decides do marry she leaves her village for another to find this young man to help her with her gift. Hapt has been dropped off at an academy for wizards. The expectations are high. They take 10 men and only one will graduate...maybe. They must all try to survive. So far I am up to chapter 17 and it is okay. I say that because I have not decided how well I like it yet. I have had to read it in bits and pieces so far.
I'm currently reading Skin Trade by Laurell K. Hamilton and the e-books Mind Games by Cecilia Tan and The Darkness & the Night: Twins of Darkness by Lisa Lane.
Lately I am going through my personal collection and reading some of my favorite Kay Hooper novels. She is one of my idols and inspirations as well as Linda Howard. So, I haven't bought any new books lately but got my mouth watering to do some re-reads so I'm pulling out some favorites. It's amazing how new an old book can seem when you haven't read it in a while, LOL! Also, I'm a big fan of the classics and I'm gonna start back on some old, classic mysteries soon.
I was busy with the edit of a new novel, an historical romance set in the Regency era, that Five Star/Gale will publish in August 2010. It put me in the mood for Regency romance. So I am currently reading Never Romance a Rake by Liz Carlyle. So far, very well-written and absorbing!

THE DROWNING POOL, Five Star/Gale 2009, romantic mystery novel--equest it at your local library!
I recently read Love Stories in This Town by Amanda Eyre Ward. It is a short story collection, which I don't usually read, but I thought this book was remarkable and because of it have a new-found interest and appreciation for the short story.
