Do Book Trailers Sell Books? Post your book trailer here!

My friend, author Stephen Poleskie, recently had a book trailer made for his book VIGILIA'S TEMPEST. While it had over 700 hits on YouTube in the first months it was up, and has now passed 4300 hits, he is not quite sure how many sales this actually accounted for. Hi Richard,

I am glad that you found this discussion helpful. Having known numerous people in the movie business, as well as writers, I can assure you that nothing is ever as "glamorous" as it is hard work. My friend Lamar Herrin, who was head of the MFA Creative Writing Program at Cornell, was a movie actor before he became a writer. One of the reasons he became a writer, he says, was that he read so many books while sitting around on the set waiting for his take. Good luck with your project. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is completed.

Hello Pearson,

I do think book trailers are helpful especially for books for the younger readers. With the right piece of music, stories could be performed more dramatically or pique interest. I don't know if they eventually lead to sales but they do spark interest in readers/watchers to find out more about the stories. So that's a good start for me.
