http://www.Crazy-for-books.com does a blog hop every friday that is really popular- about 250-300 participants each week!

http://www.parajunkee.com/ also does a "Follow my book blog Friday" which gets a lot of participants.

What's a book blog hop?

A blog hop is a themed post hosted by one blogger or a group of bloggers. The host posts a question and other bloggers who want to participate answer the same question on their blog (and usually point back to the host).

The host then has a way for all the bloggers who answered to post a link on the host's blog, so that the whole community can connect with others, hopefully gaining followers along the way! :)

Lisa, thanks for explaining what a book blog hop is. I had planned this summer to expand beyond book reviews to book themes. Seems as if a book blog hop would fit right in with this idea.

 

Another question for you (or anyone): How does the host include a way for bloggers who answer their question to post a link on the host's blog? Is this just through a Comment or is there a different method?

Some blog hops that I have seen rely on Mr. Linky, a sort of gadget that helps you to organize all of your links.

Michael, I'm glad you asked the question! Book blog hop is a term I have heard about since coming to Book Blogs, didn't know anything about, and eventually intended to ask the question too! From the answer, book hops sound like a great promotional tool along and well as fun.

Crazy For Books does a Hop every Friday with over 300 people particpating every week. Larissa's Bookish Life also does a Top 5 Sundays post that is smaller but my favorite!! Another popular one is Parajunkee's View who does a Follow Friday--all are great fun but if you're looking for smaller ones, I have weekly things on my blog but no linky set up...Here's my blog:: Books & Shtuff. I do a lot of Hops and other things!!
