Do You Like To See Links To Your Reviews On Other Blogs?

Throughout a conversation with another blogger a few months ago which spanned about a week (I was still pretty new to blogging), I learned about the idea of adding links to other reviews at the bottom of my review as a way to help provide additional options for my readers, as well as to help other bloggers get traffic to their blogs as well.

An added bonus - I believe that if you participate with Technorati rating, this will increase your score.

My assumption after that conversation was that other bloggers would love the links to thier reviwes.

My question: Do you like to see links to your reviews on other blogs?

Happy Holidays everyon! :) Wendi

Yes, of course I would like links to my reviews on other book blogs. It would show that a) my review was appreciated enough to be pointed out to others too and b) lots more potential readers (plus other benefits such as a higher Google page rank which in turn would bring in even more readers).

What's there not to like? :P

I would like it. It shows that your review has been read and hopefully will attract more readers. I don't really watch ratings but I assume it would help with those too.

yes, I do.

I am not going to lie, but I would love to see my posts linked. I try to do the same for others whenever I can.

In a word, yup!

Yes, I consider it a great compliment. I try to link to others' reviews, as well. Especially if I didn't like the book, I try to find a couple more positive reviews to balance out my grouchiness.

Thanks for all the feedback - :) wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking some bloggy-rule somewhere! I always welcome links to my reviews and comments with links to yours! Wish there was an easy way to do a link exchange by book/author. . .

I use the search engine I created to find reviews to link to my blog. I think it is up to 500 book blogs, all from users of this site. You can find it here, but if you scroll through the old discussion posts here on Ning, you'll find instructions on how to add the search box to your blog. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, bloggers like to be linked to!!! :)

However, I pretty much never click through when there's a list of reviews on a post. I haven't really added links to other reviews either. I do some link round-ups sometimes and always try to link when possible. Being generous with your linkage is important, I think. :)

Do other people click through and read other reviews when there's a list of other reviews on posts?

I like having my reviews linked. I put links to other reviews on my posts if I happen to run across them. Especially if I really love a book or really hate it and want to find a review that balances things out.

I signed myself up for the reviews daily digest from HereBeReviews.com (y'all know I run that, right?) and have them shunted to a folder in my Gmail (I don't have time to read them all or even skim them every day). Then when I'm about to post a review I just do a search of the book title or author on that folder in Gmail to see if any book bloggers have posted a review of the book lately. Makes them easy to find instead of poking around Google. :-)

Yes, it's definitely nice to be linked to, but the pet peeve I have now that this has become common is bloggers linking to their own review in the comments of my review. I find it distasteful.

Why distasteful (aka offensive, unpleasant, causing disgust)? I can see that if it's the only thing they say or if their review offers a similar opinion, but linking to a review that takes a different view encourages discussion and brings more value to the individual reviews.

What exactly is it that bothers you about the practice?
