Do you publish your latest blog posts on fb?

Hi there!

My blog is only a couple months old, so I don't have a lot of traffic yet.  I know that I could generate more if I were to have my new posts "advertised" in facebook, but I am uncertain about doing this because I know how I hate people's farmville and mafia updates.

I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this--is it good marketing or is it annoying?

Thanks for your insight!

I have also created a seperate fan page for the book blog so I dont have to just beat my friends over the
head with it. I do on occasion mention something. Unless you tell people they wont know. It's all about
the way you go about it

Absolutely! I have the blog set up to automatically publish teasers to both Facebook and Twitter.

There is a vast difference between quality blog posts (book reviews) written by a human being and a lame, irritating automatic post every time a chicken lays an egg in Farmville.

I actually have a page on FB that has the same name as my blog.  When I first built it, I invited my FB (I had about 100 then) friends to join.  About 35 "liked" my page, and, because of privacy settings, another 3 or so "liked" it who were friends of friends.  I do get a few comments on FB about the book posts and some have told me that they've looked at the actual blog site.  It's a small marketing technique, but not the most effective one.  I think the best way to market a blog is to network with other bloggers- comments on blogs, follow other blogs, join sites like this one and make comments on forums, etc.  I've been blogging for 1 1/2 months and have 12 followers from networking!
As long as you don't keep reposting it, a single update for each post is usually fine. I post to Twitter which replicates to Facebook and Myspace. You can also create a fan page if you'd rather have a separate "opt in" option on Facebook. Honestly, it's just when people repost the same one several times a day who annoy the heck out of me.
Just saw this discussion. I post my new blog posts on my regular FB page.  I find that some folks who do not 'follow' my blog regularly click from there and will add comments on the FB update.  I get frustrated that there are very few comments at the blog but it is gratifying to see that they are being read and stirring up a comment or 2 elsewhere.

I have two Facebook accounts - one personal and one for my blog, and then in addition to that I have a fan page. I'd definitely recommend starting a profile account for your blog - there are many other bloggers that have them, and I've found it's a fantastic way to network. Usually what I do is I send someone within the 'blogging circle' a friend request, and then when they accept it I post on their wall saying thank you, and ask them to check out my blog's fan page. By doing this, I've gained 100+ followers/readers on my fan page, and found 400+ people to network with on the profile account. And they don't seem to have minded too much - I think they're just happy to network themselves. :)

Here's my blog's profile account: http://www.facebook.com/lifebetweenpages

And the fan page: http://www.facebook.com/lifebetweenpagesblog

But if you really don't want Facebook, then try Twitter; that provides excellent networking opportunities, too. :-))

There is a really easy way to post to both twitter and to your facebook page in one step.  I signed up for Hootsuite and installed the widget on my browser tool bar.  With one click (ok - really about three!) you can post from your blog through a  little pop up.  I have people saying it is easy to stay up on my blog through facebook since a lot of company's block web browsing but let them look at facebook.

I post my blogs post on facebook but have it so whenever a blog post is posted, then my facebook page is updated ( I used linkedinblogs). I've gained a few followers from facebook but not all that many.

I have my blog connected to Networked Blogs so every time I make a post it places it on my Facebook wall. I also have created a page just for my blog on Facebook that's connected to my Twitter account so every time I post on one it updates the other.
