Does your blog have a niche?

I have been struggling with in what direction to take my blog site. I don't seem to fit into one easy niche and so my readers are all over the place. I have even written an article on this subject but can't seem to lock in a niche for myself. http://dianeestrella.com/finding-your-blogs-niche/

Does your site have a niche? Do you think this is important to keep readers coming back?

I believe niche is crucial, unless your blog is a hobby or you are a celebrity. If you review books, review one genre--your favorite! My blog has a niche, I write about marketing indie books. My readers are indie authors. Now I'm getting comments to. Every single article is written with them in mind, not just for me. My blog, Guerrilla Warfare For Writers, is topic-subject-heavy, relating to writing and publishing in today's climate. Yep! My niche is Young Adult and Middle Grade books. I occasionally dabble outside of that area because it is still my blog.

Having a niche is pretty important for gaining readers. The niche doesn't have to be very specific (I know there are many eclectic book blogs out there!). Readers just like to have a pretty good grasp about what you know and like so they can figure out if your blog is something they want to keep reading.

I dont think its a bad thing to have diversity on your blog. It appeals to a broad range of people that way. What I would recommend is having an easy way for people to navigate through to the content they are interested in.

YA Fiction

Romance

If you label and categorize your posts you can easily create a clickable list so that your readers can check out what they are specifically after.
