I like narration, it's easier to understand. I used an interesting style in my book "The Vicious Cycle, The JoeWaWa Story" I used poems, sketches, pictures, and journal entries and posted narration around them. Some of the answers were in the poems, I wander if people understood it. Not a book for everybody-Late baby boomers and people who grew up in the 1960's and 1970's including the drug culture, rock and roll, and addictions. Here are a few poems: www.joewawa.com

The Waiter
I am a waiter, I wait on tables
Before work, I wait for the bus,
At work I wait on parties
I take their drink order and I wait at the bar
I their order and I wait for the food to cook.
I wait for them to finish
Then I wait for them to pay
Then I wait for the tip
I clean the table and wait for more parties
I wait until it is time to go home!
I then go to the bar and I wait to get a seat and a beer
I get wasted and I call a cab to drive me home
I wait for the cab to take me home where I pass out
My day of waiting is over
So I wake up tomorrow to wait again
Fear and Insecurity
Trying to rule my life
Ripping through me like a knife
Work, Work, make that money
Some day you will come home to a warm Honey
Think! Think! Don’t take the first drink
Fear! Fear! That addiction will drag you down
As I search for serenity, yet to be found
A sober and rational intelligent guy
Listening to John Barleycorn telling me a lie
It’s macho to drink and break all the rules
Wild women think me a fool
Deep inside I know I am right
Lord reassure me, with your great might
I am insecure and have stagnation
Give me a shot of that spiritual regeneration
This poem is going a bit too far
I close here, but not at the bar!
Black Clouds and Vultures
Hovering over me, waiting for me to take the first drink
And make their kill. Patient but hungry
They want it all, they want my soul
I usually recognize them, but they are very sly
Like Eve tempting Adam, that forbidden drink
Sometimes I feel that I live, just not to give into them
They creep in every area like weed growing on sidewalks
I keep cutting them down, but they sprout up again
The forces of the disease are too great for me
They know their business and use their weapons well
Fear, resentments, and all of that negative stuff
I feel naked, alone, and unprepared
All I have is a sword, the sword of God
Sometimes I get too lazy to use it that is when I am vulnerable
Today, I sharpen my sword
