FICTION (SHORT STORIES) in the NEW YORK TIMES?

Most people are not aware that the NEW YORK TIMES occassionally publishes works of fiction. By this I mean short stories, not their sometimes wildly exaggerated "news" items. But that is another matter. Below is a link to the short story MOUNTAIN MAN by Thaddeus Rutkowski that appeared in a recent issue of the paper. Give it a try and then send me a comment on what you think, not only about this story, but also about the idea of short stories, or even serialized novels, appearing in newspapers. Daily papers used to have stories in them for entertainment in the distant past. Could, or should, this feature become more popular today?

I hope you enjoy Thad's tale. Written in the simple and direct style he has developed over the years, his stories are always meaningful and yet witty and entertaining.
