I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books they are so well thought out and the main characters Harry Ron and Hermionie are very well constructed. I think they are great the movies are pretty great so what do you think about that!!!!!

I'm a huge fan of this series. I was reading the books way before the movies came out so by the time the movies hit, I had a pretty strong sense of what I want and didn't want to see onscreen. That said, my love of HP was always about the books--the movies are only sort of a side-trip to me.

My favorite in the series are PoA, OotP, and HBP (in that order). I used to think PS and CS were amazing, but then the other books came along, which completely convinced me that I had new favorites.

PoA is my no. 1 favorite because the mystery was thickest in this series, and I thought it added up so nicely--it didn't hurt that I thought the Time Turner sequence particularly brilliant. Though my favorite characters are Hermione, Harry, Severus Snape, and Ron (in that order). I always love the dynamic of Harry and Hermione working together as a team. Too bad they weren't meant to be, romantically (lol. Okay, so maybe I'm more upset about that than I want to admit). I think this is the best book in the series, IMHO.

OotP is my 2nd favorite because so many things developed so well in this installment. Harry and his friends came to their own, and we saw a different facet of characters like Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood. This was the most grown-up book in the series, about young men and women joining in the efforts of their elders to fight for their freedom and their lives.

HBP is my 3rd favorite book because of three characters: Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, and Tom Riddle. So many facets of each of these characters were fleshed out so well. Even Draco Malfoy began to gain dimension. And of course, it only became more poignant when Albus Dumbledore--erm, went on his next great adventure from the Hogwarts tower... I suppose you can say that HBP set the bar very high for me. I had great expectations of The Deathly Hallows because of HBP... only to be, well, disappointed, frankly.

DH was a great book in its own way, but it did nothing for me in terms of tying my expectations from HBP up. For me, it was almost like... well, the awesomeness that was Empire Strikes Back to the Ewok-infested Return of the Jedi. And lord help me, don't even get me started on the continuity mistakes. That said, DH was enjoyable. It still belongs in the almighty Harry Potter series, but I wouldn't consider it Rowling's best.
PoA is my favorite as well. I knew you were cool, Anna. :)

Harry is my favorite character. How boring am I?
Hermione isn't exactly out there, either. LOL.
I think J K Rowling is a brilliant author, and the movies are getting better and better! My favorite character(s) are the twins...they are so much like me and my friends!
I love the series! I've re-read it once a year since 2003 and plan to do so again this summer. I think one of the main reasons the books work so well is because no one is 100% good or evil. A lot of writer's tend to make their protagonist unbelievably perfect and that's just not realistic. I'd have to say my favorite character is Dumbledore.
J.K. Rowling is a great author and influence to me as a writer, she teaches people to look to the little things that make us human as well as the big things which are the challenges we face. Growing up, I was not allowed to read any of her novels though I had received one as a birthday gift; it rested at the bottom of a drawer for nearly a decade till I finally recovered it just this year. I read the first novel in the series and was instantly enveloped with the story. I truly wish I had read Rowling's works before I had begun to write, but at the very least I can claim my novel is of pure originality. The Harry Potter series is definetly a landmark in the literature world, and has taught me as well as many other authors to be as imaginitive as possible.
