Has anyone heard of the "The Critic's Bookshelf"? 1,000 book reviewers?
Hey-- I just got an e-mail from a book publicity company. Has anyone here ever heard of the Critic's Bookshelf? According to the e-mail, it's a huge collection of book reviewers. But I can't find anything for "The Critic's Bookshelf" on Google.
Has anyone ever heard of them?
Here is the e-mail so you guys can read it in its entirety. It sounds like advertising, but I'm not really sure? The e-mail is vague on the details. Can anyone let me know if this is legit? It smells like vanity press services.

That's spam aimed to get writers' money. Think of it like this, if they were so influential and popular, wouldn't writers be coming to THEM? Believe me they wouldn't have to email anyone in that case. Another red sign is that you had to ask about them, which obviously means they weren't popular cause you would have known them, LOL! These kinds of companies deliver empty, worthless promises and have no power whatsoever in the book world.
I get that junk all the time, not necessarily from the place you mention but others. Somehow these companies dip into writing sites and writers' personal sites then put them on lists and send them spam. I got a notice from a company FOUR times in a two week period. For some reason they were getting past my spam box and kept getting into my inbox. I wrote them and told them never to write me again and other choice words. I haven't heard from them since but I don't hold my breath. Spammers come and go then sometimes come again, LOL!
As for these so-called reviewers, please. Believe me there are no reviewers and if they are, not reputable. I imagine if someone contacts these people that they'll keep tacking on money at every turn. Reputable reviewers do not need companies to lead them to books for review. Reviewers get books by the truckload on their own! They don't need anyone else digging for authors for them.
These spammers are a joke and should get more creative if they expect people to fall for it.
Just ignore these kinds of emails and don't send anyone money!
