Hey-- I just got an e-mail from a book publicity company. Has anyone here ever heard of the Critic's Bookshelf? According to the e-mail, it's a huge collection of book reviewers. But I can't find anything for "The Critic's Bookshelf" on Google.
Has anyone ever heard of them?
Here is the e-mail so you guys can read it in its entirety. It sounds like advertising, but I'm not really sure? The e-mail is vague on the details. Can anyone let me know if this is legit? It smells like vanity press services.
Do you have a newly released, or about to be released book that is begging for attention from reviewers?
If so, Jenkins Group, America's premier publishing services company, is pleased to announce a new program designed just for you. The Critic's Bookshelf affords you the opportunity to showcase your book in a monthly listing that will be sent via email to book reviewers at print and Internet magazines, daily and community newspapers, television and radio stations - nearly 1,000 book reviewers in total!
As this is a brand-new program, we are offering a low introductory price of just $149 to include your book in our first monthly email. Your book listing will include a front cover image, your 100-word description, and contact information so that reviewers can be in touch with you directly should they wish to see a review copy of your book. We ask only that you make a limited number of complimentary review copies available for reviewers - if they don't get to see the book, they can't comment on it!
How will you benefit from The Critic's Bookshelf? It's simple...
1. Several reviewers will contact you and will provide wonderful reviews of your book; or
2. A few reviewers will contact you and some of them will review your book; or
3. Your book will enjoy a great opportunity for exposure to an important group of industry personnel!
You simply can't lose. We never know which books will garner the most attention, but we do know that publishers who do nothing for notice, generally see nothing in return.
