Have you read the 'Outlander' series and did you like it?

I have just finished reading 'Outlander' by Diana Gabaldon and I absolutely loved it!
I posted my review on lilly-readingextravaganza.blogspot.com especially for those who haven't read it yet and here I would like to know what you thought of the series.

I read the first one and really enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit long in some places and

**spoilier**

I got a bit sick of Randall raping everyone he came across! It got a bit old after awhile...

Aside from that, I thought it was a fun read. I reviewed it in my blog.

So far as the rest of the series, I gave 'Dragonfly in Amber' a shot and had to put it down. I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps i rushed into it to quickly, or maybe it was just bad timing. I still have it, as well as the third book and plan to read them soon. Well, just as soon as I'm able to wittle down my TBR pile a bit!
I am re-reading it this month. I read it the first time way back when it first came out and loved it. I am finding my opinion has not changed with this re-read. I love the long, snuggle in, and soak up all the history type of books and this one fills that need very well.
This is my favorite series and Outlander is my favorite book in it. I have re-read Outlander so many times I've lost count. I usually re-read the entire series each time a new book comes out, and can't wait for the new book!
I got the first book and loved the idea of it so much I tracked down all the others in used book stores and ebay. They're all sitting under my desk in my TBR box waiting to be read still however XD The books are so long and historical fiction, no matter that it has time travel and romance, isn't my cup of tea (unless its Ancient Egypt/Asia).
I loved the first few books. I still read all the other books, but they could have done with a bit of editing. The thing with them is that I remember the books with such fondness that by the time the next book comes out I will be really eager to read it!

I have enjoyed the Lord John books as well. I wasn't really keen on the first book, but have loved the later entries in the series.
Love them. I read the first one when I was about 19. I'm 34 now. It takes her a loooong time to write one. The next will be out next year.
Yes, I absolutely loved Outlander. It was my first time-travel novel and I just ate it up. Jamie was such an awesome hero, I couldn't get enough of him. I loved the epic proportions of the book and how the characters had to get through such extreme circumstances. It was very dramatic and I was hanging onto the edge of my seat. I would think of the book and the characters long after I finished reading it. It definitely remains one of my favorite books of all time. I have only read Outlander once. I am participating in a 2009 reread book challenge. I plan on reading it again for this challenge.
I have loved Outlander so much that it made me read all the other 5 books in the series (my next favorite would be Voyager). However I did find the action a bit dragging in books 5 and 6 (plus I have a bit of trouble with Claire and Jamie being old and getting even older book by book -- it is a natural process, I know, but I liked them so much more in their younger days :P )
Loved it! I'm on my third set of this series because I've read the previous two to tatters. Of course, my third set is hardcover so now I need to get the series in paperback so I can read those worn instead of the hardcovers.
I discovered the OUTLANDER books in November 2006, and quickly became thoroughly addicted. I'm currently listening (again!) to A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES. The unabridged audio versions of these books are wonderful, if you ever get a chance to listen to them.

In September, 2008, I was delighted to be named Section Leader in Diana Gabaldon's section of the Compuserve Books and Writers Forum, which is the online community where Diana hangs out.

Please take a moment to visit my OUTLANDER blog, http://outlandishobservations.blogspot.com. If you're a fan of Diana Gabaldon's books, I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm planning on listening to all of the audiobooks before the new book comes out (I've read them all before). Not sure how I'm going to like it not being big on audiobooks (yet), but it's worth a shot.
I have read and re-read this series a couple of times over the years and have to say I absolutely love it. When people ask what my favorite book of the series is, I can't really say because I think of all series as as one long story (more of a saga). To the person who doesn't like reading about the older Jamie and Claire, I have to believe that she is probably very young. At least the author put in a love story of a younger couple (although I must admit I'm not very enamored of Brianna so just not as interested in that story).

I wasn't as thrilled with The Fiery Cross when it came out, but then I later re-read the entire series in preparation for A Breath of Snow and Ashes and liked it much more when I read the whole series in order. I do wish Gabaldon finish the series with the next book coming out in 2009, but I think I've read that there may be one other book.

Years ago when I first read Outlander the author said she was eventually going to write a book about Master Raymond's life. He was a healer/magician who was born thousands of years ago at the time they built Stonehenge, and he figured out a way to hop through time. All of his descendents can travel through time and have the same color aura as him (blue). Claire and Geilis Duncan are descendents of his. I'd much rather she had started the Raymond series before she started the Lord John series, but I did recently read that she still plans to write it someday.
