How Can I get readers to review my debut novel on Amazon

I am a thriller writer and my debut novel came out on Amazon last week. I noticed other authors get up to 20 instant reviews. I suspect many of them were genuine but also think they might be friends and family helping out. How can I get reviews without leaning on friends and family?

Any suggestions or info in posts here?

I normally request a hardcopy or Kindle copy of the book, for it will review the book on here, my other blog, amazon if they sell it and on good reads. I also offer you review it on one of your chosen sites if i don't already cover it.

Thanks Claire. I will check out your site:)

Hey, Reggie

I'm glad your finally getting review requests on this site. I am also a new author, and also having trouble getting reviews for my new book. I posted to a few groups, but I had no offers to review.

Thanks Rich

I know what you are saying.

Hello Reggie

Glad you're getting people to review your book. I've recently reviewed a book for a debut novelist like yourself. Her release date is April 20th and I read and posted the review to my dedicated book blog, plus posted the link that to Facebook and Twitter. Once she releases it in a few days time on Amazon, I'll post it there too.

As people have said, this is a great site to get the help

Good Luck!

Hi Shalini, your info is so helpful. Do you know if readers get a complimentary copy of the ebook either in PDF format or before release, do they then have access to post a review on Amazon if they didn't purchase there? I don't know why but I thought those "toggles" would be locked.

I'm so new to this. I wish I would have sought reviews before my launch as I don't have any to help sales either and now feel behind the 10th ball ;)

Thanks for your input ~ Mia

Hi Mia

All depends on the author I think!

With regards to the author I reviewed for, she posted here on the 15th and I got back to her with my review in a couple of days - yes, I read quickly. Also, my previous life as a proofreader, I advised her of some mistakes that she could correct as it was e-book. The author very kindly gave me a copy on PDF...I don't expect it at all.

I review quite a number of books for four different publishers so always get a complimentary copy; posting it to Amazon is not a problem either...I've never had a problem posting to them if I didn't buy it from there.

At least now you know where to go to get those all important reviews!

I'm not an expert, but I'm glad I could help..

Shalini

I think if one has previously bought something on Amazon they can automatically review without purchasing the novel.

MIa-

Before I could post my first review on Amazon I was required to buy at least one book from them. I don't know why -- but for a bookworm like me it was not a hardship!

However, now I can post reviews on books no matter where I buy them or how I receive them (although I am supposed to state that I received any books from an author). However, any books that I review that I have purchased on Amazon does note that it is an Amazon Verified Purchase.

That is good to know. Thanks so much
Great news Shalini

Try this:

http://www.virtualauthorbooktours.com/

Or Bookrooser.com is a good one too.

Also, you can enroll it in kdp select and set it to free for a day or two.  Usually after that, people will leave reviews.
