How Can I get readers to review my debut novel on Amazon

I am a thriller writer and my debut novel came out on Amazon last week. I noticed other authors get up to 20 instant reviews. I suspect many of them were genuine but also think they might be friends and family helping out. How can I get reviews without leaning on friends and family?

Any suggestions or info in posts here?

I completely understand why you don't want to lean on friends or family members for reviews and I'm not sure that's a good idea anyway. Others in the writing community understand how to write a review and they're more comfortable doing it.

If you belong to a marketing group online or a critique group on or offline, you might request that your "writing" friends and family write reviews on Amazon.

Echelon Authors review each other but I am not sure how to get the process started. I have purchased some of them and reviewed them but so far no quid pro quo.

Hi Reggie, it might be helpful if you set up your presence at the LibraryThing as many authors are offering few copies of their books for free there for reviews. then people like me who review books just apply for the book they fancy and if all goes well we spend some quality time with a good book and you end up with honest reviews. You can also request where the review should be posted. There is much more to it so feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Renny

Thanks Renny. Have to check that out. My novel is an ebook though.

Ask reviewers, I'm one and I'm sure there are many more out there. You could participate in a blog tour as well ... some find those helpful ^_^ Network?

I have gotten a few polite no thank you already. Everyone is busy unless you want to pay for a review.

Well I know I don't do many no thank you's unless it's REALLY not my style. However, I do have a bit of a waiting list right now.

Personally contacting bloggers is a good way to get reviews. Many automatically post to sites like Amazon and Goodreads. I ran across one the other day that mentioned they were looking for books. www.reviewitbooks.com. You might check them out. I think they take ebooks as well.

Thanks K Blue. I will check your site out:)

Have to check that out thank you Jackie

Hi I am new here. My name is Julie. I have a total of seven published novels. I have no problem having people pick up the books the problem for me as well is reviews. People read the books, but not so many leave reviews this makes selling and advertising free promos very difficult. Does anyone know of anyplace that would be good for advertising promos or book info?
