I would like to know how everyone here gets their books, online or through a brick and mortar store? Do you borrow more than you buy?

Thanks!

I buy rather than borrow - I like to keep them and years later read them again or do a clean out and keep the ones that are really a good read and worth keeping!

Amazon; I always buy, never borrow. I find books to be much more expensive in shops than online, so it seems silly not to buy from the 'net, but maybe that's just the genres I buy!

I buy online and at book stores. I like to go and browse at book stores but that usually means that I will be coming away with a whole lot of books. When I buy inline I can be more focused and get what I want in particular. I also browse and over buy there too, but not as much.

Bookmooch or charity shops. I now have access to a library again, so I can start getting some from there again too.

I usually compare the prices at Alibris and Amazon Marketplace. I very rarely buy new books unless they have just come out. I very rarely borrow any books unless it is a textbook I need for class.

As I own my own store I am always buying, sometimes online, sometimes in person. I generally buy in bulk rather than particular titles. This is fun because you never know what you are getting, is nice to get those WOW moments when you are sorting through a box and find interesting books :)

I feel pretty lucky and work at a library--my dream job! I order a lot of stuff through their purchasing system, but I also hit up Books-A-Million and Barnes and Noble whenever possible for those great sales!

I usually buy my books at National book store here in my place. Sometimes I borrows books to my friends and vice versa.

I really enjoy being part of The Progressive Book Club. Not only do you get a great deal on books, but they're reviewers are good about selecting a really cool book that they highlight each month. So far, I've really enjoyed reading their selections. Last month was a book called State by State, by Matt Weiland and Sean Wilsey, which is a really neat selection of essays from each state. I liked it so much, I gave away a few copies as a gift this holiday season.

I actually buy at different places: our local bookstore, Wal-Mart, Amazon. Depends. I rarely borrow books from friends. But I do go to he library quite often.

I'm just starting out in book blogging so I also hope that I get to review some books.

First and foremost, I support independent booksellers. After them, I’ll hit the big box stores sometimes (albeit somewhat grudgingly). Amazon - maybe one or two orders a year. Ebay - plenty of browsing, mostly looking for deals on older first editions and out of print books. Last but not least - friends of the library and other charitable type book sales… I've been known to travel over 100 miles for a decent book sale - they can be hit or miss, but man oh man can they be fun! There's nothing like waiting in line to dig through thousands of books, searching for gems… at a bad sale, I will leave with 15 books for $15 or so - at a good sale it ends being a lot more books and money. I don’t borrow many books - I tend not to return them when I do :)
