I would like to know how everyone here gets their books, online or through a brick and mortar store? Do you borrow more than you buy?

Thanks!

mostly through Amazon, though I go to Borders/BN if I have a coupon or giftcard. Many of the books I want are on pre-order with Amazon so I get them faster then if I waited for a brick and mortar store to stock them.

You can go to library book sales. Some sites to find them are

Glad to hear that our site is starting to be a useful tool to people. We are still in the late beta stage and adding 100+ sales to our site daily.

If you have any comments or suggestions on ways to improve it,please let me know.

I usually get my books from used book stores and swap sites like PaperbackSwap and BookMooch. If I want to buy them new the cheapest place for me is Walmart.

My credit card is through Amazon so whenever I spend a certain amount they send me gift cards for Amazon! That's a bonus for me a I have so many books to read, that I use the gift card for special books that I really want.

I also really enjoy books that are loaned to me. I think that is the best gift - when someone thinks a book is good enough to share with as friend it is like inviting them to go on an adventure with you.

I usually buy my books through Amazon.com or by going to Borders...I prefer Amazon because you can buy it off a person that might be selling it cheaper but is in new condition...so yeah for me amazon is the place :)

I mostly rely on the library for my book fix because I don't have the money to keep myself in books. Also I tend to not buy books unless I've already read them first. When I was getting some series that I wanted I did order from Barnes And Noble because the local store didn't always have the books but they went so downhill on packing that most of the time I'd end up returning damaged books. Sadly there's only a Borders around here although there is a used bookstore I hope to check out at some point but I'd have to get there by bus. Unless money starts raining out of the sky I think I'll just stick with the library and limit what I actually buy to those books I actually want to read more than the one time.

I buy most of my books online, but visit a brick and mortar store every now and again just for the pleasure of being surrounded by books. :)

Have also been using my local library a whole lot lately. Would be too expensive if I actually had to buy all of the books I read!

I seldom go to a regular book store, most of my book shopping is done in charity shops and sometimes on line. I have found some nice first editions in charity shops. One or two on-line stores I know of have free shipping and reasonable prices. I never borrow unless I need it for reference purposes.

I buy most of my books used, via thrift shops, used bookstores and book sales. When I do purchase new books, I generally get them from my local independent or from Amazon.ca.

Most of my books come from Amazon.com, Scholastic book clubs, consignment shops or yard sales. I buy more than I borrow. I visit my local book store approximately 4 times a year where I make a pretty hefty purchase 5+ books. I also look for bargains at places like Target, Walmart and the like.

I prefer going to the bookstore. That way I can actually look at the book and scan the first pages. If it's something I like, I buy it. Sometimes, I buy books online. I do buy more than I borrow since I like building up my own library. If funds are a bit on the low side, then I just go to the library. If I like what I have borrowed, I buy the book to add it to my collection.
