I would like to know how everyone here gets their books, online or through a brick and mortar store? Do you borrow more than you buy?

Thanks!

Since the local book store closed, by Kindle exclusively. Since I got the Kindle, my annual spending has probably increased by a factor of 10.

I order most of my books from Amazon and Overstock, because all we have in my little town is a Walmart and they aren't reliable for new releases. Every other month I go to the real thing. LOL! It's usually Borders or Barnes and Noble.

I have always bought my books. I want to have them, and be able to touch them, read them, or give them away however I please!

Do you imagen u just want to re read something and not be able to have it right then and there?

I shop at small, independent used book stores mostly and every so often, I raid the bargain bin at Waldenbooks or Barnes & Noble. I have also discovered Bookmooch, Paperbackswap and my favorite Better World Books. I buy used on Amazon and Barnes and Noble very rarely, since I can usually find a cheaper copy of whatever I'm looking for...the library bin is also cheap and lovely.

I get them from every where! Thrift stores, used book stores, amazon, ebay, target, review requests and check them out from the library!

i borrow more than i buy these days. unless i come across something so powerful that i just gotta have it. then i like to go a huntin' through used book stores to find that copy with the right personality. i haven't bought a new book in decades. and never online. i love the smell of a used book store in the morning! it smells like ... imagination!

When I buy books online, I like to use www.Booksamillion.com. Their prices cannot be beat!

For swapping, I use www.Paperbackswap.com

I also frequent my local Goodwill, and usually take advantage of the coupons that Borders sends me.

Hi. I do Amazon a lot. In all the years of buying there (mostly new, but often used), I've had only one really negative experience on the used side. I love to go to used bookstores and spend a lot of time perusing the shelves, and I also love to go to the local B&N and spend time. And thrift stores are a bonanza for book buying.

I never borrow books -- I don't like having a time limit on me for returning them. I do use an online trade site called swaptree.com, where you do one-for-one trades with other people who have books you want. I've been doing this for some months, and have never been stiffed in a trade deal. I posted most of my Amazon wishlist for my "books wanted" and have had some really awesome results. It's what I do with many of the books I've read and don't plan to keep.

I buy mine online, either used through a website or digital for the Kindle. I'm ashamed to say I have no idea where our county library is and I'd probably owe thousands in late fines. I like to reread books a lot.

If your like to buy your books online or want to try it check out http://www.MailMeBooks.com . Mail Me Books Great Prices! New books way below retail and Used Books start at $1.00... Reliable shipping and a Great Summer Sale going on now... However those of us at MMB who don't buy from our own store love to go to the library.

I agree with some others below about wanting the bookstore "experience". Amazon's list-mania helps me find a lot of ideas for TBR's but I don't really use it to purchase books. A Borders came to my small hometown growing up and put all the local mom & pop bookstores out of business so I am a bit bitter against the big evil bookstore monopolies and try to support local bookstores as often as possible (though I must say I do fall victim to the B&N's fabulous displays calling my name every now and then). I love Strand in Union Square NYC for 1/2 off used review books, just don't go on the weekend or it will be packed!
