How do you market your giveaways?

I am just curious. I have hosted several giveaways now and never had more then maybe 15 people enter. I have posted on some groups on here and of talked about it on my blog. I switched to using google docs, b/c i know i use google reader and love when i can enter a giveaway right from my google reader. 

So, any tips or tricks on how to get people to enter? I don't want to make people jump through hoops just to enter. I try to make it easy, name, email, and and an extra entry if you are a follower.

I recommend tweeting about it and posting it on your Facebook fan page, as well as listing the giveaway on http://www.tipjunkie.net/giveaways/ if the total value amounts to over $25. Also you might want to try adding ways for people to get bonus entries, such as following you on Twitter, Facebook, telling a friend about it, etc.

I post around to other blogs and have changed to allowing people to enter multiple times. That helps build my stats. I also post to Win A Book and other giveaway sites.

Now I am trying to figure out how to get new people to enter my contests so the same people don't win all of the time.

You should ensure that your link goes directly to the relevant page, so people need not get disoriented, trying to find the place to sign up. You should also ensure that your sign-up page is clear and concise. Finally, you should consider posting a badge/banner on various forums that leads directly to the page you want your intended market to view.

I use social media like Facebook and Twitter to get the word out about my weekly contests, and remind my followers at least once about the contest during the week.
