A book blog is a blog where the blog owner posts book reviews.

A blog tour is when an author comes out with a new book and promotes it by going to different blogs where the blog owners post interviews with the author, guest posts by the author, and reviews of the author's book.

Search the forums here. There is a wealth of information on what you're seeking.

That was suppose to be "blog tour" not "book blog".. Sorry, my bad..
I know what a book blog is :DD

Thanks Christine!! Do the author give a copy of the book to the blog owner??

It is a good idea to give a free copy of the book to each blog owner that hosts the author on their blog, especially for the ones doing reviews.

One purpose of a blog tour is for the author to rank high on Amazon, because the more sales an author has each hour, compared to other authors, the higher the rank on Amazon, and the higher the rank, the more sales they will get. This is possible with a blog tour, because an author will have more sales when they are promoting, and because a blog tour is usually held in consecutive days, there is more likelihood that the author will have significant sales during that time and it will boost the rank.

Other than that, the purpose of a blog tour is to introduce the book to the world of readers, and is a celebration of sorts for the book's release.

Blog tours are a lot of work for the author to do, but it is possible. I'm having a blog tour starting September 1st and I've arranged it all myself. I like to do things myself, because it's an opportunity to learn something new, and I don't want to dish out money when I can easily do it myself and save the money.

Oh, now I know. Thank you so much Christine!! :)

Book Blog Tours are usually hosted by a tour company or the author themselves.

They put together a list of bloggers who are willing to post reviews, spotlights, giveaways ect. about that particular book.

Then for a set amount of days those bloggers are scheduled to post on a specific day what they were assigned for the tour.

This way the author is able to gain a good deal of promotion for their book in a set amount of time.

Thanks Jill!!
That was informative :)

In the old days an author went on a book tour - meaning traveling around the country, appearing at bookstores to promote his/her book. Blog tours are the 21st century version of the book tour. Instead of visiting/appearing at bookstores, the author visits/appears at various blogs! A tour is usually a short window of time - usually anywhere from a week to a month - in which the author appears on a different blog every day. I'm in the middle of my first blog tour for my novel which just released August 1st and it's SOO much fun (from my/the author's standpoint anyway :-) ).

Thank you Terri! :)
Now I learned the history of Book tour :D
