I'm asking this question because my husband thinks I'm some freak of nature.

Yesterday I started the book Riding the Universe by Gaby Triana (267 pages) at about 4:30 in the afternoon and finished it by about 9:00 p.m. It was a good book!

Anyway, I know there are faster readers out there and it just made me curious...Are you a slow reader or a fast reader...how long does it usually take you to read a book?
I know that if I really like a book I read it fast but if I'm reading a book that is so-so then it can take me forever!
So comment away!!!

l used to read fast, l read Twilight in less than 20 hs, same with BD (20 some hs). But then l didn't have anything to read, so l've become a more slow reader, now it cam take me like 5-10 days. It's to enjoy the book, l feel like if better this way, but of course that l'll read it much faster if l want to, l'm a really impatient person!
I'm a fast reader, I can read an average trade pb in about 5 hours if I'm into it. Of course, it takes longer if I have to trudge through something that I'm not really enjoying...
That's about my pace if I can read uninterrupted.
anywhere from 40 minutes to a few hours.
It really depends with me. When I get a book I want to last as long as possible (like a Harry Potter book), I make myself slow down. However, if it is a non-demanding book that I am enjoying, 100 pages an hour is typical.
But I know a lot of slow readers who seem to get a lot more understanding out of books than I do!
I read pretty fast. 4 hours for a 267-page book sounds pretty reasonable to me. If it's a good book, you read fast!

I usually finish 3-5 books a week, depending on length.
I started East of the Sun on Sunday and will finish it by tonight with about 3-4 hours average reading time per day. It's 587 pages (I'm on pg. 404 currently).
I'm a fast reader, although not as fast as I used to be-- When I was much younger, I kept track of it, and was usually at about 3 pages a minute. It depends on the book and ambient distractions, but I'm now much more like 1-2 pages a minute. My daughter takes after me, and her friends at school don't believe she reads as fast as she does.

I don't think I read word by word, but in much larger chunks. I have to really slow down to appreciate the individual words, and I'm usually unwilling to do that :-).
I'm a fast reader in general. 267 pages would take me about 2 1/2 hours, less if I was really into it, more if it was a slow book. I've met many people who are convinced that I'm a freak of nature because of my reading, but I just ignore them. =)
I am a pretty fast reader if the book is good. I just read Poison Study by Maria V Snyder and it is a 403 page book in a day, which included school. If the book is good like that one, it takes me no time at all but boring books definitely take longer. Don't worry. You are not a freak of nature.
whoa...that's hardcore! The latest I've stayed up is like 3am and then I'm cursing myself because I know I'll pay for it in the morning!
I did a similar thing (minus the energy shot) for Les Miserables back in Jr. High.
