Okay, so first time I hired a publicist ... who shall remain nameless ... she put a dictionary post on my facebook page which I still do not understand. If anyone understands it, please explain it to me. Since then, my fb credibility has gone down. And she had me following sites on twitter that I otherwise wouldn't support working in a medical field. I should have known better since she claimed my payment before getting to know me or getting to learn anything about me. But anyway, I'm thinking about hiring someone knew but am afraid because the first experience left such a bad taste in my mouth. I was just wondering how do I go about looking for a new publicist? Is there any way to check with credentials legitimately?
I work as a publicist for authors, however one way authors check my credentials is through my Freelance profile on odesk and Elance. This allows authors to look at feedback on my work, take a look at what I have done in the past and contact me to negotiate a price before getting started. You can also choose to hire a publicist at an hourly rate and track their work or pay a fixed price.
I hope this helps!
Thanks, Angela - this does help! I hope to check out odesk and Elance ASAP.
Sites like fivesquids.com will have a lot of information about the seller. For instance, my rating has always been 100% after more than 100+ deliveries. You can check out my site at http://ning.it/168oJCT for book trailers and video reviews ;)
Thanks so much, Jasveena - I will check it out!
Thanks a lot.

Wow! That's awesome :) And I could tell that you really read the book in order to make that trailer -- something my previous publicist neglected to do :P If you'd like to contact me, you can email me at email@example.com and we can talk about pricing, the book, etc. Thx!
Lol. I will definitely get in touch with you soon!! ;))
I usually check the feedback on say, sites like fiverr, before hiring anyone at all. ;)
How is it going? Have you had any successes with your book marketing and finding help?
I did hire someone new and so far, she's fantastic! Night-and-day compared to my previous experience. We'll see how that will translate to book sales though ;)
Great! Remember it takes consistent effort. Don't give up.
Thanks! I'll try not to ;)
