I'd really appreciate some feedback

I am a relatively new blogger (2.5 months) and I just updated my blog design to something a bit more custom...but now that it's not so stark, I'm beginning to feel that my sidebars are way too busy!!

 

I don't have an "academic" blog...I don't expect nor want it to look completely professional..this is a fun hobby after all.  However, I do want to make it as appealing to readers and authors as I can.

 

Any and all constructive criticism would be appreciated!  What should I cut, what should I keep...what can I do to make my blog the best it can be

I'd say mostly make the sidebars a bit less busy so that the focus is on the content of the blog.  I like the picture at the top--it's cute!

I really love the design of your blog. Your sidebars aren't too busy to me; they look perfectly normal for a nice busy blog. I liked it so much I'm now a follower, lol. :)
