I started mine as a way to get in touch with the YA book community. No one close to me reads my genre of novels and I wanted to discuss certain novels that I really hated or loved. Ever since I have started my blog, I have loved the interaction with fellow YA bloggers.

Plus...I just love books!

I don't read much YA. Could someone let me know if adult language is accepted in those stories or is there an unwritten code of sorts that disallows certain words. I do not want to impede any discussion on this blog or misdirect it but I really am curious.

Oh yeah. Adult language goes. They can get rather crude. Middle grade no. YA yes.

Well, first and foremost, I absolutely love reading. In fact, I love reading so much that I probably wouldn't have ever broken out of my comfort zone enough to try a blog without the motivation of starting my BookWormz business. So my blog has a few purposes - 1. Showing off my handmade BookWormz. 2. Sharing the story of ME. 3. Discussing and discovering new books. Discovering new handmade artists. Insert Book Title, what is your blog url? Thanks!

I don't know if why you STARTED a book blog is any different from why do you HAVE a book blog but lots of great answers to this question over in the blogging tips group as well: http://bookblogs.ning.com/group/bloggingtips/forum/topics/why-do-yo...

For me, starting a book blog was to market a business that I was affiliated with. I left that business after six months but continued the blog because I found the community to be so much fun and it was a way for me to talk about all of the books I was reading. It's like having my own book club but I get to stay home in my jammies.

I started Read Street because The Baltimore Sun, like many newspapers, was decreasing its print coverage of books and I wanted to see how it could be supplemented online. Most newspapers have ignored the social aspect of reading (book clubs, blogs, etc.) and Read Street was a way to experiment. It has been educational, fun and exhausting -- all at the same time. I've enjoyed meeting other bloggers, too; I'm amazed at how many great blogs I come across each week -- usually through this network.

I started my book blog because the reviews I was posting were taking over my personal blog. I started posting reviews in general as a way to keep track of what I am reading.

I LOVE books. I started my blog to share my love of books. I am alone in my book world. My hubby reads a few books, but not obsessed like I am. In the short time I have been here I have added to my tbr town & met some amazing people. everyone is so welcoming.
Book people ROCK!!!
Thank you for this great question.

Same reason. No one around me likes the same kind of books as I do and if they do they are not as hard core as I am. They may read a couple of books, but no near as much as I do. They usally go with the trend like Twilight or Undead Until Dark, but that's where it stops. Also, I haven't found many blogs with the same kind of taste. I'm hunting though.

I started mine mainly because I love books, but most of my friends/family aren't into the same genre as me, fantasy, except my Dad, and I wanted to talk to other people about them. I didn't realise I was creating a book blog when I started it; I didn't know how popular they were, nor had I come across one before. Soon my eyes were opened, and I love interacting with everyone, reading other people's reviews/posts, and having discussions on my own. It's a great community!

I started a blog because I'm currently in the process of recovering from some health problems (nothing major) and I needed a project to focus on that would be both challenging and low-energy. I was turning over and over in my mind what to do when I read a book called So Many Books, So Little Time (about a woman who reads one book per week for a year) and I figured that I could probably read a book a day since I have so much spare time.
