If you could, I would greatly appreciate if you'd let Amazon know my book is free on Kobo.
Here's the Kobo link:
And here's the Amazon link:
If you could click on "tell us about a lower price" on the Amazon page and provide the Kobo link, I would be so grateful. I'm trying to make nearly all my books permanently free on every ebook site so I can get them out to as many people as possible. :-)
If you want your book to be permanently free on Amazon, you will have to edit your book details to change the price.
Amazon won't let you set your book to free. 99 cents is the minimum. They'll only make it free if they're price-matching.
Are you with Smashwords? I believe you can set your book price to free with them. They are an ebook distributor and they distribute to Apple, Sony, Nook, Kobo, and others. It's a good idea to publish your book with them because of their wide distribution.
I used Smashwords to publish on all of them. They don't work with Amazon, though. That's why I'm trying to match the Kindle price with all the other ereaders.
I don't believe there is a way to do that, so you'll probably just have to leave your book as $0.99 at Amazon.
A bunch of authors have their books on Amazon set to free by doing what I'm trying to do now. That's where I got the idea.
That may be because they're with the KDP Select program, which allows authors to set their books to free for a limited time.
Some authors have set their prices to free permanently, David A. Wells for example. His first book in his series is on Smashwords for free and is now free on Amazon. He just did that a few months ago. It's been free for a while now, because he price-matched it with Nook and Kobo.
I'm familiar with KDP Select and have set my books to free for a week every 90 days. But there is a way to make it permanent. I just have to price-match it. I just need a few people to tell Amazon, and they'll set it to free forever.
There's even a free-units price-match list on the KDP dashboard, so I'm guessing they actually price match free books.
I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info!
Who do you need to tell Amazon? I'm willing to help.
I just need anyone and everyone to tell them. I don't know how many exactly, but they won't price-match if only one person tells them. Just anyone who's willing to help, it doesn't matter who you are. Just copy and paste. :-)
Now I understand the purpose of your original post :) I filled out the form telling Amazon about your free book on Kobo. Good luck!
TODD THE DREAMER is free on Amazon today and tomorrow. It's a funny, thought-provoking book. Please check it out!
