If you were dropped in the middle of your favorite book, what would your reaction be?

Since my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice, I know that I would not be dressed appropriately.
People would probably have a difficult time understanding my English.
I would be very disappointed that I don't have a physical description of Mr. Darcy.

Oh yeah! And I would be completely and utterly terrified!

Scared to death. My two most favorite books in the world are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Portrait of Dorian Gray. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Dr. Jekyll or Dorian! LOL!

Best Wishes!

lol... Nor would I. Sometimes I think if I were dropped into the middle of The Great Gatsby, I would enjoy being in that time period and going to all the lavish parties. Then I read a book like The Hunger Games and (while I can practically imagine myself there) I know that I would not want to be anywhere in the middle of what is going on. Like Anna, I am perfectly content just reading such things.

I've always thought that I would fit in a spa in the mountains, lying at a balcony the most of the time and having four substantial and endless meals a day. I would be in the best of companies: Hans Castorp, ever involved in his emotional and intellectual formation, and his kind cousin Joachim. Something tells me that I could make friends with both of them.
The Magic Mountain, by Thomas Mann: my favorite book.

Warm regards

Most likely to sharpen my sword, recite my spells and duck and cover.
This may explain why my boys always made my character a big, dumb warrior when I played D&D with them.

lol... you gotta do what you gotta do. No shame in that. :)

My reaction would probably be...

Where am I? and then... Where's my man? or Where's my kick ass wand?

See my favorite book is either Black Dagger Brotherhood or Harry Potter.

Sounds like you're very adaptable! Great picks by the way. :)

let's say a favorite book of mine was Triggerfish Twist, by Tim Dorsey. i'd say "hang on for the ride of your life.... and LET'S PARTY! and oh yeah, Coleman, you forgot to take the straw out of your nose!"

There was a recent British TV drama called Trapped in Austin that dealt with this issue. The modern heroine involuntarily swapped places with P&P's Elizabeth Bennett. Quite fun if fairly predictable, some nice twists on Austin's characters.

The Clan of the Cave Bear. Drop me right in the middle of that Stone Age tribe and let me see if I can survive by my wits, and maybe win the heart of Ayla.

But please, let me take my own clothing. :)
