As an author and book reviewer myself, I've had a difficult time getting book reviews for my self-published books. Some reviewers are even downright rude about it. So I started an online list of reviewers that accept self-published books. The best of these is POD People and The Midwest Book Review, both of them are highly respected and the "Big Fish" in the self-publishing world. Neither accepts a fee to review. None of the reviewers on the list below are fee-charging.

So far I've spent about 80 hours (now) hundreds of hours putting this list together. Every reviewer on this list has agreed to accept (or focuses exclusively on) Self-Published Books. Contact me if you want to add a reviewer to the list. It has to be a reviewer that is currently accepting submissions.

Please post your blog link if you are willing to review indies and small press authors. I will contact you and you can also be included in the small press "yellow pages" that we are working on. I've uploaded the reviewer questions in a word doc.

Thanks Keyona;

I added "Only Sexy Books Allowed" to the reviewer list. Thanks for contacting me. Snazzy blog name, too.
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this, Christy. Great list. I'll be sending my book out to a lot of them. Thanks for the help!
I also love to review any types of books and would love to help anyone needing a review..

Hi Jessica; your blog is really cute. Do you want to give me your reviewer guidelines (do you accept e-books, and what genre, etc). A lot of people are pretty adamant about the genres they accept (for example, no horror, no erotica, etc) so please let me know and I will add you to the list here:

Christy
I read tons of Indie stuff. As a matter of fact I probably read as much (if not more) from self-published authors and micro/small press authors as I do books from traditional publishers. Quite frankly I'm bored with what the mainstream press is giving me. And trust me - the publishing industry as a whole is starting to sit up and take notice of that. Over 80% of all books being bought right now are from small presses and indie authors.

I've never had a problem getting reviews for my books. I usually just find reviewers who like to read what I write, ask if I can send a copy, and usually they're happy to get them. Of course I don't normally tell everyone my books are indie either and to be honest - most people can't tell my books are indie because they look, feel and read like anything you'd pick up at Barnes & Noble.
First off: thanks for putting that list together!

Yes, finding bloggers to review my books has been like pulling teeth. I've published a military thriller and a pulpesque anthology of adventures in genres from historical to fantasy, but there are very few bloggers out there who specialize in the type of fiction I have in print so far. Those who do claim to be too busy to commit (probably true and I certainly understand). One actually agreed to take a look but when I asked him where/how I should send the file, he never wrote back.

I have had some author interviews on different blogs, and those have been fun. Also, I found a site called Book Connector which is similar to the list you've compiled, I think. A few bloggers I found there have agreed to review, even though they don't normally dabble in my genre(s). First one should post tomorrow, I think.

I've recently become a blogger myself. (http://twofistedblogger.blogspot.com/) I don't have much of a following yet, but would be willing to review other authors if their book falls between my literary horizons. No gay/lesbian, horror or chick-lit. Paper or digital (PDF, RTF, etc.--I don't have a dedicated ereader yet) is fine. I'm not gonna trash an indie author's book if I think it's bad (and there are lots of bad ones out there). I'll probably only post a review if I would give it 3 out of 5 stars or better. Now the established, tradpub "name" authors...I let them have it when they publish dreck. I figure they're solid enough to shrug off my little cyberdigs.
Christy--Many, many thanks for the hours, days, weeks, months you've put into this list and discussion. There's a place for you in Writers' Heaven.
I have had so much trouble getting reviews that I finally created a website dedicated to nothing but reviews. It is called Reviews4reviews.com. Authors you can sign up for free! Each title you put on the site is only $10.00. And that buys you a whole lot! We feature authors in a review the author segment every two weeks. We have a video trailer segment and we feature two book covers every month. The intention of the site was to have authors swap titles for reviewing purposes. Who better to review a book than another author?

A reader....just sayin'
I completely agree with you!
But sometimes the readers don't give the reviews.
True. But then, sometimes authors will ask for a blurb and that never happens, either. Life is busy. I'm grateful whenever I get a review, no matter who it's from.
Please add me, I will read and review anything that is Christian and in hard copy form, no ebooks nor loose copy.

Just email me at mamat2730(at)charter(dot)net and I will reply, my blog is http://edna-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/ so check it out. I put my reviews on my blog and also on commerical sites if the books are listed.

I don't charge anything just the book.

Thanks
