Does Twitter seem to be losing its appeal? Some say yes and other die-hard Twitterers stand by the site, LOL. We know how this goes. Every year there is some new social network that gets everyone's attention so why would it be so impossible that Twitter will not be as popular as it was when it first came out?
I am not a big Twitter fan. I am on the site but I am not obsessed with it like some. Some live and die by it, and that's okay. Honestly I just never got that involved with it. It doesn't interest me as much. So, to me, personally I never thought it was popular, LOL! I do notice that a lot of people who I know that used to Twitter haven't been on the sites in months. I noticed some haven't been on since last year. Do you think Twitter is an example of something busting out with tons of popularity then fading into nonexistence?
What's your opinion? I think that Twitter's biological clock is ticking, LOL.
I am new to Twitter, this is my second month there and I am still testing the waters. But I do like it. I have connected with some soc/biz Internet friends that I had not 'seen' in a while. I join groups like this one because they are of interest to me, but often cannot find the time to get back to them. If I have connected with you on Twitter, it serves as a reminder to hop over and see what's going on in the group. I think it is a great way to stay in touch because as long as you post a couple of times a month you are always in plain site. It serves as a gentle nudge.
On the business side, I have gained new site subscribers.
I think the hype over it b/c of it's newness is fading, but usage isn't. I think twitter is here to stay. It could be that it's becoming more of a marketing tool and less a personal microblogging tool is why you've seen a decrease with some users. And some people don't tweet much but they are following others.
It all really depends on how you use it. I access Twitter through apps like TwitterFox and FoxyTunes w/TwittyTunes. So I end up moving around on the net how I want, the browser status bar tells me how many new tweets from people I'm following have arrived, and I can read them, tweet, or respond right there without visiting the site. In that way it's more like an IM service and makes it a lot easier for me.
Has some of the craze over it died down? Yes and no. While I don't see people going "omfg Twitter is dashitz!1!!" much anymore I do see lots of businesses jumping on the wagon still and just about every blogger has a Twitter account it seems so that you can follow them. I'd say Twitter is here to stay.

Twitter is working for me. I'm not a die-hard fan, but in the blogging world it has helped out my site. I think it's a good avenue for those not interested in and/or don't have the time for Facebook, MySpace, etc.

I agree it is all on how you use it. I think as time passes those who constantly update every little event will grow old. I like it because I can be updated on book give aways and news items. I like to tweet when I have updated my blog or started a fantastic book. So far I have connected with two authors and a New York Science institute using Twitter. I must say though, I am little tired of hearing about dinner plans and birthday parties.
