I've just posted this question on my blog, but would love input from those of you who subscribe to this Ning:

I think many of us come across more intriguing book titles than we can actually get around to reading. In fact, this is sort of the impetus for my blog title - Too Many Books, Too Little Time! I've been struggling with this lately - how to keep track of the interesting titles that I want to read and not have them lost due to my poor memory.

I've been considering a few options:

- Getting a journal to list them

- Starting an Excel spreadsheet

- Starting genre pages here on my blog

- Keeping a list on Library Thing or Good Reads

Do any of you have a great way that you keep track of the books you plan to get around to when you have the time? Please respond here or on my blog, http://2manybooks2littletime.wordpress.com.

Thanks for your suggestions!!

Tried them all...and think the excel is the easiest for me....separate worksheet ofr each genre or challenge, and a master sheet for all of them.
That's what I've been doing. The problem I run into is not having access to it when I'm in a bookstore. Do you find that this is an issue, or do you have a way to deal with it?
Google Docs. If you've got a smartphone and can get a signal while you're in the bookstore, you can get your spreadsheet that way and check it.

IIRC, Librarything has a mobile version, so that's another option.
I have a post on my blog called something like "My Ever-Growing TBR List." I add to this when I come across a book that sounds good, link to the review where I heard about it, and then slash through it when I have read it and link to my review. I also print this out and take it to the library with me. You can see it on my sidebar on my blog, below.

Sarah, I like your method a lot - and like how you set up your list. Including where you learned about the book or saw it reviews is a great idea!
Sarah,
This is a great way to do it. I'd like to do something similar on my blog, if you don't mind. I'll credit you with the idea, of course.

Thanks!
Gaby
I keep a TBR list in the back pages of my planner, titles that interest me but I have too much on at the moment to seek out. Whenever I have a bit more time or the urge strikes, I go to the list and pick one out. It's a simple system, but it works for me.
Simple is definitely good! Plus, having it in your planner probably makes it available when you find yourself in a bookstore. Thanks for the reply!
That's part of my new year's resolution to get more organized so I am going to buy the hand held scanner to scan barcodes and keeping an inventory and beyond that.. not sure yet! LOL

I have a SQL database which I use in combination with BookCrossing and GoodReads to track books on my TBR pile.
I'm another Bookmooch user. Even if I never get the book from Bookmooch, I always have a list and can look up the Amazon information from the site.
I need to check out Bookmooch. That's what I love about this Ning - there are so many online resources that I'm just learning about! Thanks for the great ideas!
