I know there are lots of posts on here about following blogs and linking to your most recent blog post but I thought it might be nice if there was a post for people who are looking for readers and not just followers.
I'm looking to find book bloggers who read similar genres to me, so that when I read their blogs, I will feel like I have something to say and can comment more. At the moment I'm following lots of blogs where I don't know what to write and lots of people are following me who I'm sure aren't interested in the type of books I read. And whilst having lots of followers is nice, I'd always rather have readers, people I can connect to.
My blog is called Tiny Library and I read adult fiction, literary fiction, classics, historical fiction and a range of non-fiction. I especially enjoy books set in other cultures or times and am also partial to cooking memoirs. On the non-fiction side, I like science, travel and history.
If you like these kinds of books as well, please let me know so I can follow you back. If not, why not post with your reading preferences and see if you can also link up with some like minded people?
Thanks, it looks like you've read some great books this year so far.
I am a new follower of your blog :)
From your preferences I like classics, but I usually read classics that are science fiction or thrillers / mysteries.
I read science fiction, horror, fantasy, thriller / mystery and YA (specially if it is also one of the alredy mentioned genres).
I'll definitely be checking out your blog. I not only write horror, thrillers, and YA (and the occasional sf and sword-and-sorcery), but am a co-owner of Mysterious Galaxy, a bookstore with locations in San Diego and Redondo Beach, CA (and online) that specializes in just those genres. My blog is at jeff_mariotte.typepad.com/my_weblog and my website is jeffmariotte.com.
I know who you are and I've read some of your books. Thanks for checking out my blog. Sadly I can't visit your bookshop because I live almost on the other side of the world, but the websites look great.
Glad you've read me, Hellen! That's rare!
I don't read much sci-fi, but mainly because I don't know where to start! I have read some of the sci-fi classics like War of the Worlds and The Island of Dr Moreau and enjoyed them. I'm now following your blog and hope to pick up some recommendations :)
I usually search the library database and I randomly pick some books. Or, if I want to read something new, I check the shelves in bookshops.
But I know what you mean; when I want to read something I don't usually read, like historical fiction, I'm lost.
I'm now following yours, too, and I hope to find something interesting that's different from the books I usually read.
Does blogger have method of searching tags/categories? I know Wordpress has it, but I don't know if Blogger does. If it does, you can search authors and genres you like, to find bloggers who have posted on those same topics, and tag your posts accordingly so they can find you.
Not that I know of. If I'm wrong, let me know someone!
One way to get readers is to give them a taste of what you're offering. I created a group that should help with promotions, especially if my fellow bookbloggers get involved, http://bookblogs.ning.com/group/sample-chapters. It is set up for authors to post their cover and a sample chapter, but since this site is so massive I'm doing a bit of promotion.
Hi Samantha, I have a book blog that revolves around history/culture/politics. Maybe you might like it. I'll give your blog a look--it sounds interesting.
Is there a way to subscribe to your blog via e-mail? I'm following via GFC, but I'm not on blogger and don't even know how to find the blogs that I've followed that way, lol. It looks like you've read a lot of the same books that I have (although I don't have reviews of all of them up).
I don't know if you'd be interested in my blog or not, as I do some literary fiction and literature, but also a lot of sci-fi and fantasy.
