Most Effective Methods for Gaining and Keeping Audience?

Hallo Everyone:

I absolutely love blogging but post-writing I admit I'm filled with the desire to share! That said, according to some statistic I could be making up roughly nine blogs are created every minute.

How do you guys get an audience....and then keep it? I've noticed that with a lot of follow-for-follow exchanges, this results in people reading each others blogs and following for a few posts but after awhile it becomes simply too much (I'm guilty of this!) and the relationship fizzles, especially if you want to expand. In such cases, I've realized engaging content keeps me rooted to a blog. But I have to hear about it first...and given the sheer number of blogs I'm not as inclined to visit because there are so many and I don't know where to begin.

So...I thought we could brainstorm! Share your most tried and true methods for keeping and maintaining an audience, and share what turns you off of a blog.

You are so right Shelly...being different in what you write on your blog..why just last week I posted on my blog that I was going "raw" ..everybody thought I meant naked and my site was overwhelmed with hits..then they discovered I meant "Vegan" the hits stopped..some even tried to withdraw their hits..oh well I was in one of my humor moods, couldn't resist..sorry..

Shelly, I couldn't agree with you more!  Not only do I try different things on my blog, case in point, my latest post is "How to Be the Biggest Ass!''  Trust me, many people took that title the wrong way, but after you read, it becomes clear what type of "ass" I was referring too!  It's what not to do to get yourself noticed!  So yes, being different always attract people's attention.  I pride myself on difference.  Every book I write is different than the late.  I don't like to stick with the same genre.  I don't want to get stuck in a genre, so I love to write about a multitude of things!  It definitely gets new readers and helps your audience grow!  But again, find what works for you, and stick with it, and it's okay to switch things up here and there too!  Good luck to everyone!

You're doing the right thing with socializing on this site and hopefully others. Blog tours will help. Keep getting your name out there. Don't overload yourself. I keep to a weekly blog, but I'm soon to be adding another blog for book reviews. That one will have irregular posts.

The one key thing that I was told early on... Post on more days than you don't post.  Joseph  http://josephsreviews.wordpress.com/
