Need Help with Author Interview...

Ok so I have an author interview to post tomorrow along with a review and I was wondering what you guys think should come first the review or the interview???

I usually post them on two separate days. Usually the review first, then the interview.

It's a personal choice. Sometimes I would be asked by the marketing folks for a different date (usually a post one week and the next week the other).

There is no wrong way.

Generally I prefer to do a review first, mostly because I don't agree to interview someone until I've read their book.  Then I'll link back to the review when I write the intro to the interview.  It's a format that works particularly well with ARCs, as you can post your review before the book comes out and then post the interview when the book is released and draw attention back to your review.

Ok I went back in and changed my post :) 

I appreciate all of the help! I was about 15 minutes from it being published and I just didn't like the way it looked....I wish there was a how to book blog explaining things like this along with all of the jargon that is used lol 

blogging can be crazy hard at times but SOOO rewarding!

I've actually been struggling with the same problem! I'm still not sure what I plan to do, I was considering posting the interview and then linking to the interview in my review post. But I also see the point of the other contributors to this discussion, maybe it does make more sense to post a review first... humph.

I ended up asking a couple of people at work and my other two partners and apparently you and I are the only ones that think you would post the interview first lol....

They say that if they don't like the book they wouldn't care about an interview...

I ended up posting the review with a lead in and the date that the interview would run and scheduling the interview to go live next wednesday with a link back to the original review post too. I think that way I may get some more hits off of my review. 

Once the interview goes live I am going to add the interview link to the review post so that people can link between the both if they go to the site after it's off the front page. :) or link from another site some how.

I'm with T.K. but also because I kind of want to know a little about someone before I start reading his/her interview. Why should I care about this person? If I know something, I do care.

I would post the review of the book before the interview.  This way, when questions are asked about the book, the reader has an idea what the book was about.  Of course, if possible, you can post them on separate days.

I think you should post the review first so your readers know that you liked the book enough to do an interview. It's a good setup because your readers know what to expect. Hope this helps! :D

If I'm doing an author feature (Q&A, guest post, etc), I put that first, followed by the review. I'm usually too back-logged to split them into different days, and some tours expect everything to post together. I figure you should know who we're "meeting" that day, what they have to say, and then what I thought of their work. 

I also sometimes interview authors without having read their work first, because they seemed like cool/interesting people, even if they might not write in the genres I read.

Review, your blog viewers should get too read or simply look at the book before you introduce the author, that way they know where the author comes from, and just how big a deal it is.

I would do the review, then wait 1-2 days, just to let it settle, then introduce the author, that way the author has a platform, and viewers that know and appreciate her books.
